Classically beautiful and positively elegant, Maryam and Omar seamlessly combined their two cultures for their Washington wedding at Delille Cellars. Perfectly Posh Events fulfilled the couple’s vision of a dreamy winery wedding with elements honoring their Persian and Panamanian cultures. The ceremony included readings in both Farsi and Spanish, guests enjoyed empanadas for dinner and Persian treats for dessert, and the dance floor rocked all night long with a combination of Latin hits and Persian tunes spun by two different DJs. Wedding day fashion was very important to both of us. I wanted to wear a one-of-a-kind wedding dress with Latin inspiration. I was lucky enough to have Lazaro Perez make me a custom gown and veil. I was honored to meet him on the day I found my dress, and I was elated when he surprised me with a sketch of my dress. My favorite part of my dress was the beautiful cathedral-like train and the unique champagne color! I wore gold peep toe Mary Jane Jimmy Choo heels that kept my feet comfortable all night! Omar wanted to wear a very classy, sharp, unique and tailored tux. He wore a dark blue tux with black lapel made by Ralph Lauren. He paired his tux with beautiful matte black stippled dress shoes from Hugo Boss. I’ve never seen him more handsome.

We personalized our ceremony in many ways. One being that we only had family in our wedding party: sisters and cousins. Our officiant was my father’s best friend, whom I call my uncle. We collaborated together and wrote our entire ceremony from beginning to end, in addition to writing our own vows. To incorporate our two cultures, we had the officiant read a love poem in Farsi and the groom’s dearest aunt read a scripture from the Bible in Spanish.

We really wanted romantic, elegant, classic and one heck of a party with both cultures being represented. We chose soft neutrals and blush for our colors to juxtapose the lush greenery of the venue, beautiful florals, we had two sided invitations with one side being in English and the other in Spanish, our menu title was in Spanish and we had food dishes (empanadas, basmati rice, kabobs, etc.) and desserts (Persian pastries) that had cultural flare as well.

The most important part of our wedding was to make sure we had the absolute best party! We both have large, outgoing and cultured families (I am Persian and Omar is Panamanian), so throwing a fun dance party was number one on the list. We had two DJs (one Persian DJ and one for Top 40s and Latin music) and a completely stocked and open bar for our guests!
