Southern California Desert Wedding Overlooking the Malibu Hills

With mismatched glass accents, Moroccan rugs, and a Coachella-inspired balloon chain, Corinne and Jon’s California desert wedding is the perfect marriage of a relaxed boho vibe and elegant style. The couple made it a point to focus on the ceremony and their guests, which resulted in a day of intimacy, joy, and love. For an added element of fun, the couple hired Front Porch Pops to provide alcoholic popsicles for the adult guests (and non-alcoholic ones for the kiddos) between the ceremony and reception. The bride channeled her inner bohemian style in a sweetheart BHLDN two-piece dress and loose romantic braids.  Kindred Weddings went above and beyond to capture every romantic moment, including some incredible post-ceremony photos in the desert landscape.

The Couple:

Corinne and Jon

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Malibu, California

One of the most memorable parts of our day was our ring bearer, Jon’s nephew. He was a total rockstar! He was always nearby to hold Corinne‘s bouquet during photos or bring us a glass of water. During the ceremony, as Jon was about to break the glass, he got so excited and yelled “MAZEL TOV!” before Jon even smashed it. It was too freaking cute and had the whole crowd in happy tears.

We opted to forgo the classic wedding party and instead had an adorable procession of 5 flower girls. We also chose to honor some of their closest friends through readings from their favorite authors.

We were happy we spent time and energy planning the actual ceremony. This is the entire reason for your big day, and it often gets the least amount of thought. Make sure you have an officiant who really “gets you” as a couple – as it is one of the most intimate moments of your life. We tried not to stress too much about the china, table arrangements, and flowers because the ceremony (and of course the FOOD) are really what guests remember most.

Jon owns a company that puts up beautiful South African stretch tents at events, so we were lucky enough to have our reception under one of these gorgeous shade structures! It transformed the space and added to the relaxed, bohemian vibe.

If you have ever been to Coachella Music Festival, you have seen the “Balloon Chain.” Jon has worked with the artist in the past, and we hired them to recreate one at our wedding!

Folksy Elopement Inspiration in Munich

January 14, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

folksy-elopement-inspiration-in-munich-chris-and-ruth-photography-12

This folksy elopement inspiration by Chris and Ruth Photography and Glückskonzepte is the epitome of boho charm.  The ceremony was set up in the middle of a field and featured an aisle lined with vintage rugs, simple wooden chairs, and one of the most stunning macrame arches we’ve ever seen! The bride’s vintage bell-sleeve Rue de Seine dress paired perfectly with the moody wildflower arrangements from Classy Flowers. But what really set this shoot’s folksy vibe over-the-top were the beautiful camels that made the couple’s post-ceremony portraits oh-so dreamy!

Intimate Southwest Colorado Wedding in the Mountains

January 14, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Photo by Lauren Johnson // http://laurenparkerphotography.com

Ali and Blake are your quintessential adventure couple, so it’s only fitting that their Southwest Colorado wedding was nothing short of exciting! The couple filled their wedding with personalized details, handmade by themselves, their friends, and their family. The most spectacular of these details was Ali’s bell-sleeve and guipure lace dress that was made by her mother-in-law. The gold and wood accents they used for the table décor perfectly tie in the rustic Colorado mountain vibe. Lauren Parker Photography worked her photography and videography magic to capture the pure joy and love in this wedding.

The Couple:

Ali and Blake

The Wedding:

Silverton, Colorado

We wanted to create something intimate, unique, personal, and not mainstream. We wanted the locale to be meaningful to our history together and beautiful enough to justify the trip itself for our guests, so we selected a town in which we had our first mountain adventure together in the very beginning of our relationship. We wanted the guest list limited to those with whom we’ve shared real experiences and relationships. We wanted to involve our friends and family in the whole creative process. And we wanted to make every attempt to limit costs as much as possible.

I wore a handmade dress that my mother-in law made. It was pure white with bell sleeves and guipure lace. I also made a necklace the night before using gemstones and Swarovski crystal beads.

I gave my husband an antique handmade knife I’d found in Colorado. I attached a personalized note and asked someone to deliver it for me the morning of the wedding. He was absolutely thrilled!

We would never have been able to do it without our family and friends! All of the signs and many of the table decorations were made by Blake’s sister. Ali’s grandmother made the floral arrangements and our friends put together the bridal bouquet and boutonnieres. Ali’s aunt and uncle made all of the reception food, and her dad made the big “LOVE” light-up sign. It was truly a team effort!
