Brought to us by Stylish & Hip Weddings Photography, this Brooklyn wedding brings a natural serenity to the energy of New York City – the perfect balance for the bride and groom’s vision of a garden style soiree in the city. Judy and Dave’s modern rustic wedding was full of white and green floral details, providing an elegant touch to the backdrop of The Brooklyn Winery.

The Wedding: 7.19.2013 – The Brooklyn Winery, Brooklyn, New York

The Goals: We wanted a wedding that was soft and summery – evoking feelings of an outdoor soiree that was festive and celebratory in a laid-back way. Garden-style decor, not fussy, but still elegant.

The Design: We were going for a rustic, shabby chic wedding. The place mats and menus were provided by The Brooklyn Winery and they handled all the food. For the invitations, my dad did a sketch of us and I had it printed at a postcard print shop in Brooklyn, with the wedding details on the back. 

The Look: I wore a curly afro, half of which fell on my face. I wanted my makeup to look natural. I don’t wear makeup usually, so I didn’t want it to look super made up. 

The Moments: There was a street fair in Williamsburg that day, and they locked off the street in front of the venue. It gave us a chance to get some incredible photos!

The Advice: Dave – If you go the traditional route, try to find an all-inclusive place where they can recommend a bunch of vendors or provide the services you need themselves. That being said, I’ve been to some great weddings that were basically in somebody’s backyard!

Judy – I didn’t care about anything except the cake! We gave everyone who helped us out free-reign to just do their thing which made it stress-free.
