Get Inspired By the Incredible Greenery in This Andaz San Diego Wedding

June 18, 2017 | juliette

To say that Amanda and Michael’s Andaz San Diego wedding was full of impressive greenery would be an understatement! The couple chose an earthy yet modern vibe, which meant a sweet ceremony backdrop of potted plants, walls of greenery in the reception space, and a mix of air plants and succulents for the table centerpieces. They also added some unique personal touches to surprise their guests, such as whimsical floor seating on Moroccan-inspired rugs, poufs, and pillows alongside the more traditional seating options and towers of donuts for dessert. Aside from all the impressive details, we especially love that the bride chose an unexpected glam look with a strapless Angela Rivera Couture and Old Hollywood-inspired hair and makeup. Plum & Oak Photo did an incredible job capturing every sophisticated, earthy, and expertly designed detail of this beautiful wedding!

I wanted my hair and makeup to be an updated Hollywood glamour look, so we did brushed-out finger waves with big lashes and a dark red lip. I think our guests were surprised to see such a departure from the traditional neutral/pink bridal look!

Our wedding colors were black, white, and mixed metallics. We wanted to have a lot of greenery as opposed to colored flowers, so the more neutral color palette highlighted the air plants, succulents, and other greenery. It felt very fresh and modern as opposed to overly traditional or stuffy.

Our ceremony was definitely the most memorable part of the day. It had been raining on and off all day, but it really started to pour during our vows. Despite the rain, our officiant (who is one of our best friends) delivered the most amazing, heartfelt, and hilarious speech and we wrote our own vows to one another. Our guests still talk about how much they enjoyed our ceremony!

It was important to us that our wedding was unique, fun, and not at all stuffy. As far as decor, we wanted the design to reflect our quirky personalities. It was important for us to surprise our guests with unexpected items, such as floor seating, breakfast for dinner, and a drink named after our dog. We wanted our wedding to feel as personal to us and our life together as possible.
