The Couple:
Sarah and Mathieu
The Wedding:
Dos Pueblos Ranch, Santa Barbara, California
I would say having a wedding that represents who we are as a couple and to have the people we love most surround us on our special day was the most important part of planning.
Our venue had everything we wanted. It is one of the only private beaches you can get married on in California. It really was just so special that pictures don’t do it justice.
We had a quote from a book: The Prophet from Khalil Gibran we both felt really spoke to us read during the ceremony and also wrote our own vows, which doesn’t get more personal than that!
Our bridesmaid colors were navy and blush and I decided to let my wedding party choose their own dress. I wanted them to be able to represent who they are and also feel their best. We chose white and blush flowers with gold accents. I just think you can’t go wrong with those floral colors.
My photographer was fantastic. I’m not really sure how he does it. It can be quite hectic and I imagine there is a lot of pressure trying to capture all these really important moments in someone’s life. He communicated great with us and overall I had trust in his eye and his photos. I was correct, and they came out beautiful!
Our advice: Definitely know it can be a stressful time planning this huge life event but try to stay connected with your partner and really enjoy the process as much as possible because it all speeds by!
I did all of the floral arrangements, welcome boxes, signage, favors and then some! I maybe have taken on a tad too much but it all worked out in the end. My wedding dress was my dream! I saw the dress in a photo and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was custom made to my body by Inbal Dror. What I love about it is it really felt like me. That was usually the first thing everyone said to me as well. It was all lace with long sleeves and beading. There was a high slit that I felt gave the dress more of an edge. I was in love with it! I kept the accessories simple because there was so much detail on my dress. I also wore a nude Christian Louboutin heel that worked perfectly with the dress.
Mathieu and I like simple and elegant so we went with that all around. We had multiple centerpieces with gold accents and each was different. String lights with a chandelier that fully set the mood and the music we loved the most. I am a dancer and the majority of the guests were ready to dance all night long. The music was so important!
Processional: Going to California by Led Zeppelin and Purple Rain by Prince
Recessional: Big Poppa by Notorious BIG
First Dance: Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
We had severe wind and rain during the reception, also our ceremony musicians didn’t show up so we had to hook up a speaker to the trunk of a car! It all worked out though. I’d rather hear “Purple Rain” by the real artist anyway!
