Classic Meets Bohemian Lakefront Wedding at The Suttle Lodge

If you love autumnal florals, classic decor, and romantic waterfront moments, get ready for Candice and Jim’s wedding at The Suttle Lodge to make your heart swell with happiness! The cozy PNW vibes were strong in their outdoor ceremony, which featured a jaw-dropping floral backdrop created by HART Floral Design. The jewel-tone color palette added both a classic elegance and bohemian charm, and the calligraphed signs and place cards Candice made added the sweetest touch of personalization. We can’t get over how beautiful Candice looked in a delicate lace Lihi Hod gown, which perfectly fit the carefree, woodsy, romantic feel of this wedding. We also love that Jim stayed true to his personal style with a classic blue suit and quirky accessories. From the couple’s sweet first look in the woods to their private canoe ride, photographer Katy Weaver was there to capture every dreamy moment of this Oregon wedding!

The Couple:

Candice and Jim

The Wedding:

The Suttle Lodge, Sisters, Oregon

In planning our wedding, our priority was to host a fun and intimate celebration for our family and friends to enjoy with Jim and I. We made sure to stay at each other’s side the entire time and really be present in this magical time we were so fortunate to have with all of our loved ones.

Jim and I became great friends and fell in love while exploring the Pacific Northwest, especially Oregon. We wanted to host our wedding weekend here and have our family and friends truly experience the beauty and natural landscape that is our outdoor playground. We envisioned our wedding ceremony and reception surrounded by forest. The Suttle Lodge near Sisters, Oregon was one of many venues we considered. Ultimately we chose our venue for its rustic but modern “Wes Anderson” vibe on a breathtaking lakefront. We wanted a venue that could accommodate our entire group for a 3-day party including on-site lodging, restaurant/bar and offer outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and campfires.

I did not have official bridesmaids but my closest friends formed a bridal tribe. They each wore a long dress (or suit) in different jewel-colored hues. My ladies and gent created a gorgeous rainbow!

Directly after the ceremony, while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour and made their way to the reception, Jim and I snuck away to our cabin for “introvert” time to celebrate this magical occasion and enjoy a cocktail and snacks.

I was set on refining my calligraphy skills so I could create the signage (welcome, bar menu, dinner menu, seating chart) and dinner setting place cards. I also made the wishing tree. It was enjoyable and cathartic, and I think they turned out pretty good!

I surprised Jim with a 1971 cherry red Volkswagon Bus turned rental photo booth. We loved it! We think our guests did, too, based on the wild photos from this night!

  1. Beautiful wedding! The chalkboard menus, blush and red tones, and elegance mixed with rustic notes make this wedding feel both personal and memorable. Cap sleeves with a slightly bohemian flare are a great style choice for the wedding dress.
