Charming Rooftop Wedding at The Line DC

November 11, 2020 | olivia

Yuri and Ryan’s wedding, like many this year, hit a few bumps in planning. After initially deciding to throw a large wedding, the couple had to change their plans and trim their guest list—thanks COVID. Their pivot to a microwedding was stunning and we’re so thrilled they made this call with the help of their wedding planner. Every inch of this celebration was on point: the gorgeous floral designs, the color coordination, the romantic table decor.

With the help of wedding planner Sarah Kazemburg, they turned their original plan of a large wedding into a charming and intimate ceremony. This new wedding plan brought us to the rooftop of The Line Hotel in D.C. and incorporated blush and terracotta tones, making us fall in love more than ever before. If you’re looking for inspiration for a romantic and simple wedding, keep scrolling to see the photos taken by Kate Ann Photography to see why we’re completely in love!

Rooftop Views at The Line Hotel DC

First, we picked DC because it’s the place where we fell in love. Second, The Line Hotel matched our style perfectly. It was the only place we looked at. Not only is it located in Adams Morgan—one of DC’s most diverse neighborhoods—The Line is a restored church that was left vacant for 30 years. The history incorporated into the hotel and its reflection of the community is fascinating.

Music From the Heart

I walked in with my dad to the spanish acoustic guitar version of “Tu Me Acostumbraste” by Natalia LaFourcade for the processional song and we chose “Tu si sabes Quererme” for the recessional. Our first dance song was totally out of left field: we picked Dig by Incubus. The lyrics “If I turn into another, dig me up from under what is covering. The better part of me, reminds me that we’ll always have each other, when everything else is gone” resonated true to our relationship.

Let’s Keep It Simple

The most important thing to me while planning our wedding was the guest list and officiant. I went down from 180 guests to 30. It was hard not to invite extended family—everyone understood the situation—so we stuck with immediate family members and a dozen of our closest friends only. Ryan’s best friend was ordained just so he could officiate our wedding!

Wedding Advice for Brides-to-Be

Invest in a great photographer. I have many friends say they wished they had taken the time to find one that understood their vision. Also, it’s true what they say about couples not eating: our wedding was just 30 people and I still didn’t get a chance to finish my meal! Make sure you have plenty of snacks and food waiting in your hotel room or wherever you will be afterwards.
