This Boho Chic Manhattan Elopement Ended with an Intimate First Dance in Central Park

August 27, 2018 | colleen

High-fashion meets carefree boho in Kayla and Brennan’s Manhattan elopement. As a fashion blogger, Kayla has a keen sense of style and it comes out strong in her and Brennan’s wedding day look. Kayla opted for two Island Tribe dresses – one slightly edgy with major fringe detail and one flowy with major bohemian vibes – but both are total swoon-worthy. After quick “I do’s” at the NYC Courthouse, these two strutted around the city for some incredible portraits by Nicole Leone Miller before celebrating in an intimate brunch reception with 12 of their family and friends at Maman Greenpoint.

The most important part in planning our elopement was making it solely about us. We really wanted to soak up every moment together and celebrate in a way that felt genuine to our love.

The most memorable part of the day was getting ready together in the morning and riding in a checkered taxi to the courthouse! We were able to share in the excitement and anticipation while taking in the gorgeous views of downtown Manhattan.

We wanted to keep the planning as stress-free as possible. We achieved this by trusting our amazing photographer (and close friend), Nicole, to come along on our adventure and help bring our vision to life! When eloping, it’s so important to find a photographer that you feel comfortable sharing your most intimate moments with and who understands exactly who you are as a couple!

I am a bohemian fashion blogger, which definitely influenced our wedding day looks! I fell in love with two dresses from Island Tribe. The first dress was a fitted lace dress with beaded fringe details, which went perfectly with our Manhattan city hall ceremony! My reception dress was a flowing lace dress with bell sleeves, giving off a more laid-back, playful vibe! My groom wore a navy blue suit with velvet trim with a floral tie that matched the floral theme of our wedding!

When planning our brunch reception, we decided to forgo decorations and instead chose our favorite French bakery, Maman, that already has a beautiful interior! The bakery perfectly suited the theme of our elopement, which allowed us to just show up and spend time celebrating!

Our first dance was to a single violin playing “All You Need is Love” in Strawberry Fields, The John Lennon Memorial inside Central Park. It was extremely special to us being avid Beatles fans and is one of our favorite places in the city!
