The Couple: Heather and Nick
The Wedding: 5.11.13 – Hacienda Del Lago, Volente, TX
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Friendly, fun and personal
What was your wedding color palette? Blue, white, pink
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Nick and I wanted our wedding to feel very familiar and inviting to all of our guests. We chose Hacienda del Lago because it offered the backyard feel with expansive views of Lake Travis and the surroundings. The natural setting was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and we were blessed with one of the most beautiful days of the year. We used ribbons to bring color to the ceremony, keeping it simple because the view spoke for itself. For the tables, we used family silver for all the centerpieces to represent loved ones who could not be with us that day. I wanted the wedding to be classic and timeless accentuated with personal touches.
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Nick and I were focused on being able to celebrate with the people who have supported us through each stage of our lives. We wanted a fun party that felt intimate. We chose our venue and entertainment with that in mind. Andy Austin and Heavenly Day Events helped to make the day wonderful and so memorable. Andy is a great DJ and MC. He worked with Nick and I to create the atmosphere that we wanted and keep the dance floor full and the party on the high note for hours. We danced all night and got to really be at our wedding and enjoy the moment. The little details like wearing my mothers veil, working with one of my best friends to design all the paper products and using elements from home in the decor made the day extra special for me and will always be something that I cherish.
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? First, hire a wedding planner. Then, try to remember your overall goal with the event. Nick and I wanted a fun party that felt personal and we were focused on that when making choices.
