Excerpt from Popping the Question, Seattle Style by: Emerson Robbins (available at any Barnes and Noble or Borders bookstore on the West Coast.)
A friend’s destination wedding was George’s answer to how to pop the question. Brandy’s love of dolphins and a trip to Hawaii played perfectly into his plans. He told Brandy that his uncle, who lived in Honolulu, had bought them tickets to swim with the dolphins. What Brandy didn’t know was that George had spent weeks working with the resort to plan a proposal not to be forgotten.
Upon arrival at the dolphin resort, George slipped a special something to one of the dolphin trainers, while another distracted Brandy with pictures. At the end of the show, the trainers announced that there was one more activity and asked George and Brandy to get into the water. The trainer explained that since the couple had been giving the dolphins fish all day, they wanted to give Brandy a thank-you gift. One of the trainers then threw a large floating box into the water and signaled the dolphin to retrieve it.
As Brandy opened the box that the dolphin brought to her, she was shocked to see that the inside was designed like a regular jewelry box, with an exquisite ring sitting in the center. George took the ring, asked his big question, and the dolphin did flips as George placed the ring on Brandy’s finger.
What will I be responsible for on the day of my wedding?
On your wedding day there will be lots to do, but other than looking great and getting to the church on time, the most important things on your agenda should be to slow down, take good care of yourself, and enjoy the moment! Treat yourself to a good breakfast, spend time with your groomsmen, relax, and have fun.
Your other responsibilities might include knowing the whereabouts of your marriage license, your rings, and the gifts for your groomsmen and future wife. You’ll also want to be sure that your guys and your family know where they’re supposed to be when. Don’t be afraid to delegate some of these duties to your best man or groomsmen if you have too much on your plate, after all, that’s what they’re there for! If you haven’t already, consider arranging for your wedding night hotel room to have flowers, candles, or other special surprise treats waiting for your arrival. Thoughtful and personal touches are always a great idea, and will start your marriage and honeymoon off on the perfect note.
Puerto Vallarta Paradise- Weddings and Honeymoons at Hacienda San Angel
Ever since Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor fell head over heals in love in Puerto Vallarta, couples from all over have traveled there to revel in romance and relaxation. Super friendly people, world-class restaurants, tempting shops, five-star hotels, and jaw-dropping scenery are just a few of the things that have made Puerto Vallarta one of the most popular wedding and honeymoon destinations on earth. We think that what makes it one of the best is that in spite of its popularity, Puerto Vallarta has retained its beauty and cultural authenticity throughout the years.

One particularly special place that epitomizes the city’s most charming virtues is the Hacienda San Angel. This gorgeous property is actually 3 villas, one of which originally belonged to Mr. Burton himself, linked by beautiful walkways, gardens, and verandas. Widely considered to be one of the best boutique hotels in the world, the hacienda boasts a stunning hillside view of the Bay of Banderas crowned by the picturesque Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3 opulent swimming pools, museum quality furnishings, in room spa services, and unparalleled gourmet food. The service is impeccable and the ambience so heavenly it simply defies description.

In November, Hacienda San Angel will unveil its new wedding chapel, making the hotel THE place to get married in Puerto Vallarta. Lucky couples can expect every detail they desire to be expertly handled by the on-site Clef d’Or Concierge, one of only 60 in all of Mexico, so planning a wedding there is simply a breeze. Rumors of the opening are sweeping through Puerto Vallarta and beyond, so book now for your 2008 or 2009 wedding.
