Their destination wedding, planned by Events by Bliss, was complete with the most fun palm leaf florals and an intimate ceremony that gives us all the Mexico wedding vibes. About 30 minutes before our first look, the biggest storm in years hit! Nick and I decided to do our first look during the downpour under a covered balcony and it was perfect. He reminded me that it was going to pass and the day would be perfect. He was right!

I knew for the longest time that I wanted to wear a dress by Grace Loves Lace. They cater to the modern bohemian bride and have the most unique dress styles. I was going for a Lana Del Rey mixed with Morticia Adams vibe and once I saw the bell sleeves on the “Piper” in the dress showroom, I knew I had found THE ONE!

Hacienda Cerritos provided the intimate vibe we were going for. Since the venue sits atop a big rocky hill, it feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere with all of your best friends celebrating. You can always hear the sound of waves crashing and you get a 180 view of the sun setting. We were going for a backyard party feel with a tropical modern look.

Baylee Dennis is the most amazing photographer I’ve ever encountered. She is so personable and has great attention to detail. She cares about telling your story and capturing special moments. She was cool under pressure when the storm hit and kept me smiling for photos. I’d hire her a million times more.

Advice from the bride: Have fun with it. Look for ways to keep things simple. Most importantly—hire a coordinator! I am very A-type and thought I could do it all myself, but it helps SO much to have someone who is looking out for you and can make the tough calls and keep you within your budget. Also, SPEND THE MONEY ON PHOTOGRAPHY. Those photos are the only thing you can keep forever and if you hire the right photographer, they will go above and beyond to capture your day perfectly.
