This Victorian-Inspired Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate Wedding Will Make You Want to Go Antique

May 18, 2018 | juliette

The Victorian feel of Julia and Ryan’s wedding at Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate was nothing short of incredible. The grandeur of the venue was swoon-worthy on its own but the magic of this wedding was in the curated details, such as the couple’s cameo cake topper, wedding newspapers, framed photos, and antique book centerpieces. Lois Mathews Design finished off the table designs with overflowing greenery and roses to match the rose arches located in the venue’s lush gardens. The entire look was vintage elegance at its best and had the secret garden vibes the couple wanted to create. The true showstopper, though, was Julia’s regal bridal look, which included a Galina Signature gown and 110-year-old golden myrtle crown from Berlin that she wore with a long veil. Joel & Justyna‘s distinctive photography style was perfectly suited for capturing the ethereal quality and Victorian look of this California wedding.

The Couple:

Julia and Ryan

The Wedding:

Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate, San Marcos, California

I wore an ivory and champagne lace and silk dress with a sheer back. a 110 year old golden myrtle crown from Berlin, and a custom made long veil with blusher. I have very long hair that I wore down in loose waves and I felt like a queen. My shoes were gold Vince Camuto low wedges and delicate diamond and gold pendant earrings that looked like flowers. Two of my bridesmaids wore champagne-colored floor-length gown with halter necks and the other (my sister) wore a floor-length silk gold off the shoulder dress. I wanted a regal, yet soft and feminine look. Ethereal was the aim.

Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate had everything I wanted. A private, dense and well-maintained Victorian garden, rose covered arches, an old-fashioned swing, and a historical Vvictorian building on site.

My favorite moment was walking with my father down the aisle and turning the corner to see my husband (for the first time that day) wink at me (’cause he knew I needed to breathe and relax). Groom’s first reactions are my favorite part of any wedding.

Don’t compromise on things that are non-negotiable to you and remember that VERY FEW things are really THAT important.

We wanted to create an experience that took you out of reality. I wanted it to feel like you stepped back in time into the secret garden. That is why the venue, the flowers, and the photography were the most important things to me.
