Today’s Real Wedding is all about simple elegance. Shira and Adam were married last May at her family’s beautiful Santa Barbara home and their goal was to create a warm, family-oriented, intimate day. Wedding and event planner Colette Lopez of La Fete Weddings worked with Shira and Adam to incorporate a wedding color palette of white, cream, pearl, ivory and champagne in with the beautifully landscaped family property. The colors perfectly complimented the home’s Mediterranean architecture and coloring and its lush green lawns and pretty rose gardens. Tables were topped with creamy linens in both solids and stripes, white and ivory floral arrangements in antique mercury glass vases from Cody Floral Design, sparkling votive candles, and pretty mother-of-pearl napkin rings. Wedding photographer Melissa Musgrove captured each detail beautifully!

The wedding was filled with a mixture of traditional and modern Jewish ceremonies and like all other aspects of the day, incorporated their dear family members. The Chupah that Shira and Adam stood beneath was Shira’s grandfather’s talis, or prayershawl, and their parents and siblings all stood beneath it with them in order to share the moment as a family. Shira wore a gorgeous Ulla Maija wedding gown along with family heirloom jewelry and accessories and a diamond bracelet that Adam had given to her during one of their first vacations together.

The reception began with cocktails and then the traditional and lively Hora. Immediately following that Shira and Adam invited all their guests to remain on the dance floor to surround them and blow bubbles as they danced their first dance to This Years Love by David Gray. “It made the wedding kick off to a great start and brought everyone together in a warm and intimate way”. Their wedding cake was Shira’s favorite and another family tradition, a Douberge cake flown in from New Orleans. Throughout everything, Shira felt her best decision was choosing to get married at home. “It was magnificent to look up from the ceremony, cocktails, and party to always find myself where I am the most comfortable- at home”.

  1. Wonderful!! I love how fresh and elegant it looks – great use of soft pastels and candle light. I especially love the first photo of the couple and photos of the table setting. Great post!!

  2. Gorgeous wedding! I love how the cream palatte really made the natural green pop. Great details, elegant, luxurious, the pictures are so full of small textures I almost want to reach out and touch them! I am curious who makes the shoes though. I’d love those in silver for my day!

  3. Gorgeous wedding! I am using the same colour palette. Any idea where the shoes are from?

  4. Thanks for the nice comments! I’m looking into where the shoes came from now…

  5. An update on the wedding shoes directly from the bride herself… “The shoes were actually purchased two days before the big event…. They are Gucci wedges I found at Saks. Actually, I had two others lined up as well just in case my feet started to hurt. I had a pair of wedges from myglassslipper in NYC and a pair from some online site. I would definitely say that wedges are the way to go in terms of comfort and no sinking in the grass issues. In the end, the Gucci shoes were all I needed because they were so comfortable.” -Shira

  6. I really like the favors on the beautiful silver tray, in the silk bags. What are those?? What a beautiful presentation. Whatever it is, I want it!! Thx!!

  7. Those are Chilly Jilly wraps, a shawl in a beautiful silk pouch that were given out to all the women. They were personalized with the bride and groom’s name on the tags of the pouch. Perfect for an evening wedding.

  8. I was fortunate enough to be at Shira and Adam’s wedding.  Evrything was perfect from the ceremony, the food, the music, to the beautiful setting with the open tents so you could see the stars.  However, my favorite part was how the bride and groom looked at each other with total love in their eyes.    The pictures of them say it all.

  9. HI! I love these pictures and the color pallet! The candles and soft colors look beautiful! I’m getting married at a private estate in Santa Ynez and I was wondering where the chuppa was from, or, if you made it. Also, did your event planner arrange for the faux tent or did you do that through the rental company? Thanks!!
