This Couple Threw a Colorful Cabo Destination Wedding at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos After Celebrating 10 Years Together

September 28, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

We are absolutely smitten with Shae & Matt’s destination wedding at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos in San José del Cabo, Mexico. These two celebrated 10 years together with colorful decor and Mexican cultural flair. Just look at the vibrant bouquet with colors of golden yellow, blush, and magenta that Jae Le Mae created to look absolutely perfect with Shae’s boho Grace Loves Lace dress. We love how photographer Heather Shane captured these two running around the town with their squad and every detail from the gazebo ceremony to a lively reception with rentals from Del Cabo Event Design at the glamorous Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. Scroll on, friends! We cant wait for you to see this day!

I just wanted to keep it simple and classy. I knew I wanted lace, and a chic boho vibe. I wore mother or pearl hoops because they are my Husbands birthstone and I always wear hoops so it felt like me. I wore a natural makeup look and simple beach wave hairstyle. I also wore my Grandmother’s pearl bracelet as my “something borrowed.”

The whole thing from start to finish was more than we could have hoped for, but we had a lot of fun doing our first look. We took 2 separate vans to downtown San Jose Del Cabo and did our first look on a random little street that screamed CABO! It was all super exciting and being there with our bridal party made us feel relaxed before going into the ceremony.

Don’t stress over the small stuff because it all turns out better than you can imagine! Also, opt for a destination wedding! It’s a vacation for everyone and allows you to spend more time because the actual day goes by QUICK! We chose Cabo because we wanted to make it more of a vacation and actually get to spend quality time for people. Since we had people coming from all over, it made sense. We opted for San José del Cabo because it’s not as wild as Cabo San Lucas, but still close enough to action. The Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos was in our price range, had amazing service, and was absolutely beautiful. It was an easy choice!

It was ALL the colors! We went with wood tables and greenery so we could incorporate colorful floral Mexican table runners and scattered gemstones. I chose different dresses (colors + textures) for my bridal party and wanted it to be different than I had ever seen. I had no clue what it would all look like together before the day and it turned out perfect!

Heather is the BEST! She made us feel so comfortable and beautiful. She was really good at directing us on how to pose (which we really appreciated) and her turn around time on photos was quick. She spent three days in Cabo with our entire family and became a good friend in the process. We love Heather and can’t imagine our day without her!

Modern Latin Inspired Los Angeles Wedding at City Libre

September 27, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Belen and Rey wanted their wedding at City Libre in Los Angeles to be a colorful celebration of blending cultures and having fun! The two chose City Libre as their venue because it reflected their personal style and had a beautiful view of the city. The couple also desired to incorporate as many local vendors as possible, so Cisne provided the catering with a cake from the historic, local bakery La Mascota Bakery and other delicious sweet treats from Brown Baked Desserts. We’re completely obsessed with how dapper Rey looked in a colorful tie and 70s-inspired emerald green suit from Express, but he certainly didn’t upstage his bride who looked stunning in a classic Willow by Watters gown. If you’re looking for some Latin inspired wedding ideas for your Pinterest board, get ready to Pin every one of these fantastic photographs by Aspen Jeanné Photography!

The Wedding:

City Libre, Los Angeles, California

I was between two looks when I was shopping, a Spanish romantic dress or a clean moderns style. And the dress I found was the perfect blend of both. I wanted my look to look simple, because at the end of the day I still wanted to look like myself. So all my jewelry was vintage jewelry that belonged to my mom, my earrings were hers, my ring was my great grandmother’s. I wore the necklace I wear every day, which I didn’t plan on doing but it just felt right the morning of.

We had the best photographer. I am really awkward in front of the camera, and Aspen made me feel so comfortable. It honestly felt like a friend was taking our pictures. I can’t emphasize how important that is when you’re looking for a photographer. Our favorite photos are the pictures we took at the Ace Downtown before the wedding. They make us look like celebrities.

We made sure the entire ceremony felt really intimate, the guests sat in circle style seating and surrounded us with their love and support. The bride’s brother was the officiant and he made sure the ceremony was heart warming for the bride and groom. We had a love poem read in both Spanish and English, so that the brides family could really appreciate the sentiment behind it. The bride and groom also read their own vows.

My bridesmaids all have great personal style, so I told them they could do whatever they want. And I’m glad they did because they all looked like themselves and looked gorgeous.

It was really important that every detail of our wedding reflected us as a couple in both feel and style. We wanted it to look beautiful, but also wanted the intimacy of a backyard wedding. We incorporated our personal style and cultures into every detail. Our dog wore a traditional Filipino barong, worn for weddings and special occasions. Our hashtag was in our napkins and Rey’s tie clip. Every detail had some personal thought behind it.

We wanted it to be about celebrating and having fun, we cared less about having the best of everything, and cared more about having things that people authentically enjoyed. The decor really just naturally came together because we just chose things that we like and things we would want in our own house.

We wanted to make as many vendors as possible were local. Our caterer, Cisne Catering, was born and raised in Boyle Heights, and or wedding cake was from the oldest bakery in the neighborhood, La Mascota. We also ended the night with an LA street dog cart, which was a surprise for our guests and was the hit of the party.

This Big Sur Elopement Features a Dramatic Train and Goosebump-Inducing Views

September 26, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

We’ve never seen a Big Sur elopement like Madison and Kanyon’s Big Sur elopement, and we are so here for it! If you haven’t already noticed, Madison’s captivating, three-piece, custom made Harriett Falvey gown has the most dramatically awesome train we’ve ever seen. With a dress like that, you must have a bouquet that lives up to it, and Love in Bloom did not disappoint with an absolutely stunning bouquet. The couple adventured with Zoe Steindl Photo, who so brilliantly captured the majesty of not only the amazing location but also the sweet connection between the two. We can wait for you to see these photographs!

The Couple:

Madison & Kanyon

The Wedding:

Garrapata State Park, Big Sur, CA

The most memorable part of the day was getting to see my husband’s face when he looked at me in my dress for the first time. I’ll never forget the look on his face!

We only had our photographer, florist, and dress designer we LOVED them all and would recommend them again and again, but I do have to say a really good photographer can really make or break your day and we are so glad we went with Zoe. Not only is her work amazing but we felt comfortable, we had fun, and we felt like we were hanging out with a good friend.

The dress I wore was from designer in New Zeland! She custom made the dress after I found her through IG, and we messaged back and forth for a bit. I knew I wanted a long and dramatic train since it was going to be just us and I didn’t have to worry about people stepping on it. The dress is called ‘Utterly Bias’ it is made out of three separate garments that are all cut on the bias and designed so they can each be worn again after the wedding day – not sure when you would wear the skirt (lol) but always the chance of shortening it.

We knew we wanted to elope somewhere beautiful. It’s crazy to think people spend so much money on a venue (not that there’s anything wrong with that) when you can use the beauty of nature as your venue. We currently live about 30 minutes away from the spot we chose and when we first moved to California it was a spot we loved exploring so it was a no brainer when it came to choosing “our perfect venue”. You really can’t beat the cliffs overlooking the ocean and when the fog rolls in it just makes everything so much more dramatic.

Cheers to you, Madison and Kanyon! And many thanks to Zoe Steindl Photo for sharing their breathtaking day with the Junebug team — we’re swooning! For more Big Sur elopement vibes, you’ll definitely want to check out the ceremony setup at this Big Sur elopement.
