Real Weddings- Lisa and Chris

March 13, 2009 | editorial team

Lisa and Chris’s sunny August wedding on the Kirkland, Washington waterfront was a fun and sentimental day filled with personality and Lisa’s fabulous personal style!

After a romantic proposal in Paris, inspired by Lisa’s favorite movie “Something’s Got To Give”, a Parisian theme and a black, white and fuchsia color palette was chosen for the wedding. The letterpress invitations were created by Tara Bliven of Ephemera Custom Letterpress, and included a gorgeous lined envelope and a black and white design that blended together the classic yet modern looks of the day. The bridesmaids wore rich pink dresses from J. Crew and carried little black and white damask clutches along with their amazing pink bouquets.

Family and friends played a major role in the wedding day as well as the wedding preparations. Lisa’s mom made the black and white damask table overlays when they couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for elsewhere. Chris’s mom gave the couple personalized handkerchiefs on the day of the wedding that read “Boy to Husband” and “Girl to Bride” and Chris wore his grandfather’s wedding ring. Lisa’s brother walked her down the aisle since their father had passed away when they were little. “My father passed when I was 8 and it was always something daunting in my mind that this day would be without him. Luckily, I have an amazing family and my brother has always been my mentor. There is no one else I would have had by my side.” They walked to the song Everybody’s Free from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, which starts with the lyrics brother and sister together will make it through…someday, a spirit will take you and guide you there.  It was a very special moment for the whole family.

After the ceremony performed by a family friend, Lisa and Chris snuck off for a boat ride together and when they returned Chris surprised her with a serenade of “She Is Love” by Oasis performed by his band The Cloves. At the reception all the guests had a blast with props in the classic photo booth and Lisa and Chris used the strips of images as their guest book. Photographers Grace and Hun from GH Kim Photography captured all of the wedding images in their usual spectacular style, and day-of-coordinator Maegan Both of Bridezilla Events kept everything in order.

To make it all last just a little bit longer, Lisa and Chris hired photographer Jennifer Prater of Island Echoes Photography to do a honeymoon photo shoot on the beach in Kauai, and the photos are amazing! Lisa says it was totally worth taking her dress all that way!
