Real Simple Magazine has just released their 2009 weddings issue, and might I say that it is lovely! I’ve got my copy right here that they were kind enough to send my way, and just as the title states, in the best way possible, it’s Real Simple.

With all the information, ads and stimulus we take in everyday it is such a pleasure to open this magazine up and see a clean layout without any clutter. The photos are beautiful, the Real Weddings are full of fun ideas for every budget and the articles are straight forward and useful. Of course I’ll admit that the thing that got me from the get-go was that their cover is pink and green! (We like pink and green around here.) I’m a total sucker for a cute wedding cake topper, so both of these topper designs were sent to me by friends in the know! Thanks ladies!

First we have the ridiculously adorable custom wooden toppers from Goose Grease on Etsy. Kelly and Michelle make up this Brooklyn, New York team of artists and create tiny customized wooden doll versions of you and your fiance, and if you like, your whole family and even your pet! They are made with non-toxic paints and varnish so you can feel safe putting them on top of your delicious wedding cake or cupcakes, and will want to keep them around as mementos (and toys for your future kids?) for years to come. Next up are the whimsical custom ribbon creations of Chapeau de Gateau. These intricate wedding cake toppers are made by Toronto artist Alison Dawson out of beautiful Mokuba ribbon from Japan. I’m amazed at her ability to emulate the textures and detail of cake frosting with fabric, and I adore the addition of your name and wedding date on the bottom of each special piece.
