As we received submissions for our 2009 Best from the Best Fashion Report, we were thrilled to see work from so many wedding photographers who were new to us, as well as from photographers all around the world. Two artists who we were particularly impressed with (obsessed with is more like it!) were Ivan Franchet of Ivan Franchet Wedding Art Photography from France, and Jean-Pierre Uys of Jean-Pierre Uys Photography from South Africa. Both men were awarded two spots in our Best from the Best Fashion Report, and they had so many other photos that we loved, we had to share them with you today! First up is Ivan Franchet…

Whether documenting a quiet moment of reflection or an emotional action shot, Ivan Franchet’s work has an incredible quality of stillness to it that freezes each moment in time in such a rich and powerful way. The two black and white images above (can you say gorgeous tonality?) were the chosen photos for our 2009 Best from the Best, and the images below are more that we adore from Ivan’s portfolio.

Jean-Pierre Uys amazes us with his view of the world. The scenes he captures in his images are even better than the real-life versions, with the perfect focus, framing and geometry to highlight what makes each moment a visual work of art. The two images above were chosen (gleefully) for our 2009 Best from the Best, and the images below are more that we love from Jean-Pierre.

Happy New Year everyone! We are very, very excited to say that today we are welcoming in 2010 with the launch of our annual Best from the Best Fashion Report! A look back at the best wedding images of 2009 from the world’s leading wedding photographers!

With thousands of images submitted to us by hundreds of photographers across the globe, Blair, Kim and I were in heaven editing them down to what we considered the best of the best- the images that blew our minds, made us gasp and tear up and grin from ear to ear at the same time, and quite simply, made us love photography even more than we already do. We salute every one of the hard working photographers out there who sent in their images for consideration. It has been an honor to see such stellar creative work, and we sincerely hope that all of you, our readers, are as moved by 2009’s Best from the Best as we have been.
