Vintage Meets Modern Wedding Design by Kristin Banta Events

January 26, 2010 | editorial team

Today we have an incredible visual treat from Southern California’s amazingly talented wedding and event planner Kristin Banta of Kristin Banta Events, and the team at Wildflower Linen. Kristin designed this beautiful summertime wedding to let vintage glamor meet modern style in order to create a lush, intimate and over-the-top gorgeous wedding!

Guests arrived at this rich red jewel toned ceremony at the Hotel Bel Air and were welcomed by the Voodoo Lounge Quartet playing as they entered. Walnut Chiavari chairs with champagne taffeta cushions filled the lawn, yarmulkes were offered from a small table filled with flowers, the curved aisle was lined with red petals and sheppards hooks holding cages of moss and burgundy amaranths, and the chuppah, which contained a red glass chandelier hanging in its center, was completely covered with stunning red florals by Empty Vase.

After the ceremony there was an outdoor cocktail hour with soft champagne florals and decor, and then guests entered the ballroom through a draped entry hung with chandeliers, and saw a room transformed into a vintage inspired masterpiece! The color palette of pewter and white created a sparkling atmosphere for the whole reception. The entire room was draped in soft pewter fabric, and a luxurious lounge area gave the guests space to relax, watch the action on the dance floor and enjoy the 9 piece band, The James Gang, play throughout the night. I absolutely love the addition of the framed mirror hanging over the draped wall, adding to the vintage vibe in such a creative and modern way!

The tabletops were decorated with mercury glass votives and one of three centerpieces; tall white cascading Phalaenopsis orchids in antiqued mirror urns, low white florals overflowing from mirrored boxes, or tall silver vessels exploding with white ostrich feathers. Wow! Each place setting featured antique pewter chargers, printed menus and satin silver napkins with either a flower embellishment or a rhinestone napkin ring. A white fondant cake from The Cake Divas was decorated with silver details, topped with ruby flowers and displayed on an antique silver cake platform. Not a single detail was left untouched, such thoughtful and exquisite design, and hard work done by all the vendors!

Incredible Rock-Star Styled Pink and Black Wedding at San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel – Ricci and Joel

January 22, 2010 | editorial team

San Diego Hard Rock Hotel real wedding, images by Sarah Yates Photography

Today’s real wedding of Ricci and Joel is so much fun! Partly because the above image of the happy couple was chosen as one of our 2009 Best from the Best Fashion Report images and I love seeing the rest of this wedding, and also because it looks like it was simply a flat out, kick-a$$, rock-star style party at San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel that must have been a blast to be a part of. Photographed by the lovely Sarah Yates, these wedding images and ideas are sure to start your weekend off in style!

The super stylish bride Ricci searched high and low for the perfect fashion for her wedding party, and after many months of creativity, she put together looks that were the perfect match to their wedding’s rock n’ roll theme. The girls wore little black dresses and fabulous black platform heels, and the guys wore black pants, shirts, ties and vests from Express and sneakers from Vans, but it’s Ricci’s bridal look that truly wins my heart. She wore a ruffled dress from Betsey Johnson, layers and layers of funky necklaces, a birdcage veil from YJ Design and (a girl after my own heart) sparkly red shoes from Christian Louboutin. Love it!

After a ceremony on the Hard Rock Hotel rooftop, guests headed inside for a reception filled with edgy yet feminine pink and black decor details. Cupcakes from Heavenly Cupcake were displayed on fiberglass cakes stands, the tables were set with black and pink linens, bold pink flowers and centerpieces dripping with crystals from Affairs Party Rental and Botanica, and the room was lit with hot-pink lights. Ricci and Joel loved the way it all came together,  and they enjoyed every minute of it. Ricci says, “My biggest piece of advice that I can offer is to take a moment during your reception to just sit back and take it all in. As the bride you are being pulled every which way for most of the evening, so grab your glass of champagne, your glass of wine, or, your shot of tequila, and toast yourself for making it all happen. And as always, rock on!”
