I just can’t say enough about this incredible Mexico destination beach wedding planned by Alison Events and photographed by Paco & Betty. The fun and casual atmosphere that couple Jamie and Justin created incorporated tons of personal touches while fitting right in with the wonderful details of Mexico, and has got me pining for those white sand beaches! What an absolutely ideal destination wedding!

The Goals: Early on Jamie and Justin decided that a destination wedding was the perfect match for the vision they had of their wedding. “My husband Justin and I are the happiest in warmth and surrounded by our friends and family. When we started planning our wedding we knew that the city we call home, San Francisco, while convenient for our nearest and dearest, was not a place known for warmth much less predictably warm weather. We decided almost immediately that we wanted to have a destination wedding and set out looking for the perfect place.” They chose the beautiful resort Le Rêve Hotel in Playa del Carmen, Mexico because of its location, contemporary decor and the kindness of the staff.

The Design: Using green, yellow and gray wedding colors, Jamie and Justin, and their talented wedding planner Alison from Alison Events, created a fun, relaxed and whimsical environment for all their guests. Justin is a graphic designer, so he played a big part in deigning their save the dates and wedding invitations. “For our Save the Dates, we wanted to do something very special. Justin created a vintage-inspired poster with a Mexican theme with the two of us and our dog, Vinnie, dancing in traditional Mexican dance costumes. For our invites, we created a more contemporary and refined version using our wedding’s color palette and had them letterpress printed by HelloLucky. Adorable!

The Look: Jamie never planned to wear a traditional wedding dress, but after trying her Romona Keveza gown at Bridal Galleria she was smitten! To add a dash of her own personal style she wore an amazing custom made chunky green necklace and earring set from Elva Fields and shoes by Diane Von Furstenberg.

The Moments: Jamie and Justin’s wedding ceremony on the beach was officiated by a good friend and was short and sweetly informal. They didn’t have groomsmen or bridesmaids, so they asked their families to participate by reading excerpts from Velveteen Rabbit and “I Do, I Will, I Have” by Ogden Nash. A traditional mariachi band played during their ceremony and cocktail hour, and at the reception one of the biggest hits was the photo booth provided by photographers Paco and Betty.

Looking back on the day, Jamie and Justin loved it all and were so glad they chose a destination wedding to spend quality time with the people they love. “The toasts were adorable, our ceremony was lovely, the dancing was spectacular, and the love around the room was mind blowing.”

Alternative Beach and Bedroom Boudoir Photos

September 1, 2011 | editorial team

alternative and creative modern bridal boudoir photos from Mi Amore Foto

Can you say dreamy? I’m loving these creative boudoir photos taken by photographer Shannon Mathis of Mi Amore Foto! They run the gamut from fashion to portrait to experimental images and they show just what modern boudoir photos can be – anything you envision! Back in our own shooting days Blair and I used to say that our goal was “to photograph you the way you want to be seen, to reveal what is inherently beautiful in your world” and it seems Shannon loves to shoot with a similar approach. She doesn’t go for traditional “boudoir” but creates images according to each client’s personality. She says, “I think it all depends on the woman I’m photographing and the emotion she gives off.” Lovely!

Are you having a bridal or boudoir photo session before your wedding day? Tell us about what YOU’RE envisioning!
