What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Relaxed, vibrant, joyful

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? My constant inspiration in life are my three beautiful girls. I wanted to celebrate a day of family and love with fun entertainment that the girls could also enjoy. They of course are our little angels and picked out their own dresses. So I guess you could say they were the personality of the big day: fun, youthful, and all smiles!

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? My 2 year old daughter was the flower girl and while walking down the aisle she stopped abruptly at the first set of seated guests, and turned her basket upside down and dumped the flower petals onto the floor. It was such a cute and precious moment, everyone had a good laugh.

Ombre Wedding Inspiration! Colorful Wedding Decor and Fashion Ideas

blue ombre wedding dress photo by stephanie cristalli

Today’s gorgeous and colorful wedding decor ideas are inspired by an unforgettable wedding dress! Heather’s Badgley Mischka blue ombre wedding gown was part of her Rajasthan, India inspired celebration a few years back, and it remains one of the most memorable wedding dresses we’ve shared on Junebug. I love ombre’s soft fade of color, and luckily, ombre wedding decor and fashion are everywhere this spring, so we have lots to share with you today…

ombre beauty products

The word ombre is French for “soft gradual tones of color or shading“, and what a great approach to pretty wedding day beauty as well! Nordstrom has ombre covered in their beauty department. Chanel Quadra Ombres Eyeshadow has four beautiful shades of pink and plum for your eyes, and The New Black nail color kits make ombre nails super easy! Nordstrom also carries ombre ponytail holders by L.Erickson in enough colors that they’re sure to have the ones your bridesmaids would need during a fun night of dancing!

ombre wedding decor and fashion in shades of pink

Pink and peach are always pretty, but using them in soft, graduated shades just heats up their romance factor! Clockwise from upper left: Champagne pink and peach wedding cake by Martha Stewart Weddings; a peach ombre napkin diy project with super easy instructions from This Is Glamourous; cherry blossom and chestnut macarons from Canelle et Vanille; ombre rose petal wedding ceremony aisle decoration from Martha Stewart Weddings.

ombre wedding decor and fashion in dark jewel tones

Rich, decadent jewel tones! Clockwise from upper upper: lovely ombre silk rehearsal dinner or bridesmaid dress from Nicole Miller at Zappos.com; a sweet wedding cake with ombre sugar hearts by Erica OBrien Cake Design; darling party forks from MademoiselleChipotte on Etsy.com; and earrings of amethyst, garnet and topaz by Livjewellery on Etsy.com.

ombre wedding decor and fashion in blue shades

And if you’re still thinking about Heather’s blue wedding dress too, here’s some inspiration in gorgeous shades of blue! Clockwise from upper left: blue and green chandelier earrings from Kendra Scott at Nordstrom.com; blue ombre bridesmaid’s dress from Dessy. Isn’t this bench from Anthropologie fabulous? It would make the sweetest special love seat to sit at while eating your reception dinner, or a fantastic seat for guests in your photo booth! And after the wedding, you’d have a beautiful (ombre!) memento of your special day. Turquoise ruffled cake from Wild Orchid Baking Company.

What are your favorite ombre wedding ideas?

What words best describe your wedding? Joyful, Perfectly Us!

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? We knew we wanted an elegant, classic wedding, but we also wanted it to be fun and reflect who we are as a couple. To that end, we did almost all the planning ourselves and incorporated the wedding and cultural traditions that were most important to us while cutting out the ones that werent. For example, we had a large wedding party because we wanted our closest friends to share our day, but nixed the traditional first dance and garter toss because they can be awkward. We wanted a more relaxed feel, so the men in the wedding party wore Converse Chucks and the women picked out their own bridesmaid dresses to reflect their personalities. Additionally, we included some of Jessicas Chinese heritage: we designed all of our paper goods using the traditional double happiness character in a repeating pattern and Jessica wore the colors of a traditional Chinese wedding, red and gold, with her shoes and reception dress throughout the night.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? One of our favorite moments is one that technically went wrong. Jessica walked down the aisle to God Only Knows by the Beach Boys and the friend working the music system accidentally let the music play long after Jessica reached Steve at the end of the aisle. First of all, it was hilarious and our family and friends cracked up. Also, the extra time allowed us to grin at each other, look out over the crowd of loved ones, and really savor that moment. That moment summed up our wedding and our life together: maybe not wholly perfect, but perfect for us. We also were so glad we stuck to a small guest list. It was a challenge getting the guest list down to 60, but it really paid off. We were able to spend at least a few minutes of quality time with every single guest; the relatively small number of people and the intimate setting made it feel more like an awesome dinner party.
