Roselie and Ryan’s wedding day at beautiful Villa Contempo in Orange, California, was as sunny and romantic as can be! I love the crisp, happy, yellow and white color palette they chose. It beautifully complemented Villa Contempo; and the soft touches of gray that showed up in the wedding party’s attire and the sweet succulents that were tucked into the lush arrangements added the perfect bit of soft romance!
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Fun, love-filled, and dance party!
What was your wedding color palette? Gray, yellow, and accents of white.
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? My husband and I have been together for 10 years and have lived together for 6 of those. We already felt married and simply wanted our wedding day to be a fun celebration (pretty much a huge party) that perfectly reflected us as a couple. We are a completely non-traditional couple with mixed backgrounds, distinct taste in music, and what we consider to be a fun, hip style. I think our wedding day reflected that – we had ding dongs at the candy bar, glow sticks on the dance floor, and our baby (dog Riley) join us down the aisle.
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Since we are neither a religious nor traditional couple, we were originally least concerned about the actual wedding ceremony. All that changed when we began working with Terrence, our wedding officiant. He worked with us to create a wonderful and personalized wedding ceremony that was not only humorous and loving, but was able to incorporate my husbands Irish and my Jewish and Armenian backgrounds while keeping the ceremony light-hearted and comfortable. To this day, everyone still mentions what a wonderful, personal, and memorable ceremony we had.
A happy accident that turned out for the best was that I forgot my veil at home on the morning of the wedding. I actually loved the look of the dress without a veil. It was much more modern and fun!
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? Dont let the wedding make you forget what you are really celebrating: starting a life with your new husband! Have fun, dont stress, and take every moment in! Just like everyone says, the wedding will be over in a blink of an eye so enjoy every moment.
Talk about gorgeous! Kaylin and Patrick beautifully paired modern, clean design with unique touches, lush flowers, and sophisticated fashion for their Seattle wedding! Pat’s love for all things modern and Kaylin’s glamorous, sophisticated aesthetic seamlessly came together in an event with mad style! James Moes beautifully captured the wedding day with his signature atmospheric images.
The Goals:Our main goal was to make the wedding as easy as possible for all of our guests. We decided to host the reception at Hotel 1000, which was the hotel our guests were staying. We made sure we shuttled all of our guests to the church, so they didnt have to worry about transportation. Most importantly, we wanted all of our guests to have a great time!
The Vision:The theme was 1960s glam meets modern day. It was a true combination of my husbands and my style because he loves modern design and I love old Hollywood glamour. Our color palette was metallics silver, gold, bronze – with lots of white. Pat designed our invitations which featured elegant typography. Our flowers were lush, but being just white, were also modern and clean. The hydrangea, babies breath, and garden roses complement both our church, which felt very European, and the posh downtown hotel. The decor also included some fun tinsel chandeliers, soft white seating, a lighted bar, and a cut-paper installation by local artist Celeste Cooning. A few other fun touches were our ice luge for our signature “Something Blue” cocktail, and salsa dancers that performed at the reception.
The Look:My goal was to look timeless and elegant, and reminiscent of Grace Kelly and my favorite 1950-60 bombshells. I loved everything about my dress – the skirt and the small detailed belt of pearls and stones wrapped in tulle, the bodice with a sweetheart neckline and the design of the amazing folded silk. I borrowed my oldest sisters cathedral veil from her wedding 7 years ago, which was perfect since my dress didn’t have a large train. I also wore a diamond cross necklace my parents gave me a few days before the wedding.
The vision for my bridal party was modern day bombshell, and they looked stunning in different but coordinating dresses! The men channeled the Rat Pack, and were dapper in their classic black tuxes.
The Moments:Our favorite part of the day for both of us was an unplanned moment during the ceremony! We were lighting the unity candle and whispered to each other, We didnt practice our first kiss, what should we do? We also loved stopping at iconic Kerry Park for photos on the way to the hotel from the church, since we didnt do a first look. I had so much fun on the dance floor with all of my friends and family, and Pat loved hanging in the gentlemans lounge, drinking whiskey and catching up with friends.
