While we may be behind our computers the majority of the time, we love a little adventure every once in a while. Engagement sessions with grand climbs and epic views really get our adrenaline pumping, and Caroline and Jimmy’s Colorado engagement has it all — even a rainbow! Photographer team Sean Money + Elizabeth Fay beautifully captured the casual and romantic engagement session, daring to do whatever it took to get the perfect shot.
We know Mondays can be a little rough, so here’s something delightful that is sure to make you smile. Your wedding should be one of the best days of your life, and Lucy and Phil truly took this sentiment to heart when planning their fun and quirky wedding in England. The pair threw tradition out the window when they decided to incorporate duck feeding, a flash mob, and a giant moon bounce into their celebration. As if the purple, blue, yellow, and green color palette weren’t colorful enough, the talented Claire Penn Photography captured absolutely vibrant images and moments throughout the day.

Lucy and Phil
The Inspiration:
The inspiration was ourselves … not in a WE LOVE OURSELVES kind-of-way, just in a “we want a day that WE are going to enjoy” kind-of-way. So we just thought about all of things that we like: we like playing games, feeding ducks at the pond, taking photos, eating Pieminister pies, quirky bits and bobs, looking cool and being with friends and family. We wanted people to know that they were at Lucy and Phil‘s wedding and so we just planned to do all of our favourite things in one day (apart from watching films, we thought that would be a little anti-social).
We didn’t really go for a theme, but our wonderful photographer Claire really hit the nail on the head when she described it as a Village Fete Wedding. We had lots of games around, tin can alley, lucky dip, skittles, splat the rat, hook a duck, Pin the Bow Tie on Phil, and of course, a bouncy castle. Our marquee was set up with long tables with gingham tablecloths, wildflowers in jars and wooden chairs. The long tables were important to us, we wanted to feel part of the wedding, not on display for everyone to watch us eat!
The Moments:
We couldn’t think of anything worse than wobbling around on a dance floor, awkwardly kissing every now and then, it’s just not our style. So after a lot of deliberation, we chose Pharrell’s “Happy” which we knew would just perfectly sum up our feelings of the day, and we got our friends and family involved. A few weeks before the wedding, we emailed some guests who we knew wouldn’t be able to turn down an opportunity to be part of a flash mob!
So, our favourite moment from the wedding was dancing … behind us a load of giddy friends and family bouncing around on the dance floor with us to a routine that we had all learned … in front of us a load of friends and family grinning, clapping and singing along. It was a moment of such joy for everyone in that room, that’s all that we could have ever hoped for.
The Couple Recommends:
We just loved being with Claire from Claire Penn Photography all day, she was a delight to have around and felt like one of the family. Alison from Silly Old Sea Dog who made our Bridesmaid’s dresses is such a wonderful woman! So accommodating and helpful, managing to find the perfect material and even making a bow tie for Phil, what a dream! Lindsey Bellis at Hair by Lindsey was such a chilled out perfectionist, if that’s possible?! Just the kind of person that you want around just before you get married.
Selecting a location for your destination wedding can be a little overwhelming when you have the whole, beautiful world to choose from, but Rachael and David clearly made the right decision by having their destination wedding in Portugal. The balmy, breezy atmosphere was the perfect setting for their day. The traditional church ceremony was followed by a lovely outdoor party at beautiful venue Os Agostos. The talented team of Matt + Lena Photography did a beautiful job of capturing the sweetness of the day, from the details to the moments.
The wedding didn’t have a theme as such but when we saw the venue we fell in love with it. It was such a gorgeous rustic country setting we knew we had to have the reception there and kept that setting in mind when choosing our invitations, flowers and table setting. I would say it had a touch of vintage about it.
The Moments:
Our favourite part of the wedding day was the cake cutting. We had it in the Garden at midnight by the pool. There were candles and lanterns all around and each of our guests had a white balloon that lit up. The moonlight setting and having all our family and friends around us as we cut the cake made for a really special moment.
The Couple Recommends:
Algarve Wedding Planners, particularly Patricia Francisco, were absolutely fantastic to work with. They are so professional, efficient and hard working. They provide a really personal service and no request is too much, they took care of absolutely everything for us and made planning our wedding abroad stress free. Our guests are still raving about our wedding 2 months later and the credit has to go to the Algarve Wedding planners for that. I could not recommend them highly enough.
Our wedding photographers, Matt & Lena photography were also fantastic. We had an engagement shoot with them a few months before our wedding as part of our package which was a great opportunity for us to get to know them and them us before the big day. On the day itself they worked so very tirelessly but blended in to the background in such a way that we hardly knew they were there. Our pictures are absolutely phenomenal, a month after the wedding we were sent a slideshow of some of the pictures. It brought the whole day back to life, it made us laugh and cry and feel all of the emotions of the day all over again. The portraits are amazing, the way they capture the light in their photography is just so beautiful and were blown away by all the unposed, special and funny moments they caught so discreetly. We will treasure our pictures forever.
