Taking advantage of the beautiful white winter months, Take A Seat Events designed a whimsical, green and blue wedding styled shoot. The gold and white flatware sparkled on the candle-lit, linen dressed table. The exposed wood from the venue, a private estate in Pinckney, Michigan, the green berries, deep blue touches and white florals added a rich natural feel to the design.
Here’s a little insight about the shoot from planner and designer Justyna at Take A Seat Events:
This romantic winter setting — on a private estate in Pinckney, Michigan — was our main inspiration for this elegant styled shoot. It was just our luck that Michigan was hit with a snow fall on the day of the shoot which completed this overall vision for the outdoor shots. You know you have a great model when she can still keep her A-game face while standing in the bitter cold with the snow blowing and howling!
For the design concept, we chose to stick with a simple and delicate color palette that had an element of sophistication with the gold tones in the flatware, glassware and paper goods. The touch of deep blue in the flowers and green raspberries for the table setting added life and a winter hue to the overall feel.
By teaming up with some of Ann Arbor’s most talented vendors, we were able to bring this vision to life!
Kathryn and Hunter dreamed of having a timeless, elegant wedding overlooking the place they call home, Austin, Texas. Their fairy tale wedding at OMNI Barton Creek Resort & Spa was dressed in classic colors of white, gold, and black. White flower petals lined the aisle runner as the beautiful bride walked to meet her groom. Their new moments as husband and wife were captured by the talented photographer Jennifer Lindberg.
The inspiration for the overall wedding was classical elegance with a pinch of southern charm. We chose to have the wedding at the top of a hill overlooking the Texas Hill Country to show off the place we call home. We chose a simple color scheme of white, cream, and gold with a hint of black for the perfect timeless feel throughout the wedding, which also created a warm and friendly atmosphere. The goal was to be able to look back years from now without having any regrets.
The Moments:
Kathryn:The most memorable moment of the wedding was the exchanging of letters..but what I got, I never saw coming. With my wedding party anxiously around me, I began opening the envelope addressed “Kathryn.” As I began to pull out his letter with beautifully monogrammed stationary I noticed a separate little something at the bottom of the envelope. Before taking it out I knew exactly what it was. Side note- I never cry- but I lost it. It was a paper heart. Not just any paper heart, but the one I gave him 5 years ago when we first started dating. The heart read, “To you my other half, keep this with you wherever you go so you know no matter where you are, I am always right there with you. You will always have the other half of my heart so when we’re together we’re whole. KTE.” After pulling myself together I began reading his letter where he explained how he had kept it in his wallet but no longer needed it after today because we would be married and whole. I continued reading and in true Hunter style, he managed to make me laugh and cry all at the same time. It was then that I knew I was making the best decision of my life.
Hunter: Narrowing down all the great memories I have of our wedding day to one is not easy. But if I had to pick one, other than seeing Kathryn appear at the end of the aisle for the first time, it would be getting to walk into the ballroom with Kathryn right after the ceremony and seeing my groom’s cake for the first time. Anyone that knows Kathryn well enough knows that she enjoys surprises. The one aspect of the wedding that Kathryn would not let me be involved with was my groom’s cake, she wanted it to be a surprise. I knew how hard Kathryn worked on designing my cake and being able to finally see it blew me away.
The Couple Recommends:
Jennifer Lindberg was a fantastic photographer. She made me feel so comfortable during my bridal portraits, and made the numerous group wedding pictures painless. Chris, with Mason Jar Films, was also wonderful. Chris and Kourtney took the time to sit down before the wedding to get to know us better, and to really capture our personalities. Denise Vasquez, who did my make-up for both my brides and wedding, is truly one of the sweetest people to work with, and does a fantastic job of making you feel and look beautiful! And finally Laura Gonzales, who made all my wedding designs come to life. She not only made my wedding dress, veil and shoes, but did all the bridesmaid dresses, flower girl sashes, and created the perfect mother of the bride dress for my gorgeous mother.
The elegant Armour House in Lake Forest, Illinois set the stage for Kelley and Scott’s glamorous and feminine blush and gold wedding. The bride looked incredibly stunning in her lace and tulle Jim Hjelm gown. Elena Bazini Photography perfectly captured the romance and effortless beauty of the day from first look to first dance.
I wanted a very girly, soft, elegant, vintage and, of course, pink wedding. We chose blush pink and gold as our colors.

The Moments:
That is a hard one to choose, it was such an amazing day. I would have to say when just the two of us had our first look together. We chose to do that so he could see me first before anyone and so we could have that special moment alone.

Elena Bazini is an amazing photographer. We could not have asked for a more gorgeous wedding video than the one Tony Nunez created. Kristen at Kio Kreations arranged such beautiful bouquets and knew exactly what I was looking for.
