December 26, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

A color palette of plum and silver with touches of blush provides a sophisticated backdrop for this vintage glam inspiration photo shoot from Polished Event Design and Coordination and Heather Elizabeth Photography. Elegant and chic, we just love everything about it! Enjoy!

A few words on the design, details, fashion and fabulous professionals from Michele Guerrieri of Polished Event Design & Coordination

The Design: When the idea for this shoot initiated there was one word in mind: glam. We wanted to capture the elegance of an era dominated by glitz and glamour. The location for the shoot was Gibson House Yolo County Historical Museum – what better place to capture old glamour than a historical mansion? The color scheme came together around deep purple. The deep purple was accented by blush and silver tones. The elegant table design could not have been possible without the beautiful rentals from Dogwood Party Rentals. Their extensive silver collection allowed the vision to become a reality. Silver candlesticks and chargers were accented by crystal glassware. The mahogany harp back chairs finished off the vintage look. For the floral design, deep purple flowers were accented by lots of white and greenery. The flowers featured a free flowing shape to accent the formality of the tablescape. Angels Petals conveyed these design ideas with lilac, lithianthus, ranunculus, tulips and amaranthus.

The Details: The era could not have been portrayed properly without some form of cocktails. The set up featured some delicious liqueurs that go hand-in-hand with champagne. Throw in the coup champagne glasses and it was set. Lastly, the cake from Cake Couture made its statement with a black bottom layer to add just enough depth and decorative rhinestones to add just enough glam.

The Look: The dress was probably the easiest decision of the whole shoot. Upon hearing the vision for the shoot, La Soie Bridal in Sacramento, provided this stunning dress. The intricate beading and lace made it the perfect depiction of glam. With the help of Haute Bride, we finished off the look with a striking headband, pearl bracelet and glamorous earrings.

The Photography: All of these details and designs would have gone unappreciated without the fabulous work of the photographer, Heather Elizabeth Photography. Her depiction of each detail was perfect. As each photo comes together, it displays the story we wanted to tell – vintage glam.

April, 2014 Throwback – Elegant Winter Wedding in Florida

December 26, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

elegant winter wedding in Florida with photos by Dana Goodson Photography | via junebugweddings.com

The picture of sophisticated elegance, Jordann and Adam’s winter wedding took place on New Year’s Eve. Crystal Marek of Style & Grace Events created a secret garden oasis with twinkling bistro lights that provided romance beyond words and Dana Goodson‘s photos capture the atmosphere so beautifully.

The Couple: Jordann and Adam

The Wedding: 12.31.2013 – Sweetwater Branch Inn, Gainesville, Florida

The Goals: As a couple, the main priority was the wedding date. This was very important to us. It was the anniversary of when we started dating and not only that, but also a symbol of starting anew. It wasn’t the easiest thing, planning a wedding on a Tuesday that was also a holiday, but we stuck to our guns on that one. We loved the idea of having a sweet Black Tie New Year’s Eve party (that also happens to be our wedding) with our closest friends and family.

The Design: We wanted an intimate, natural setting with some personality. We had mostly cocktail tables to encourage movement throughout the late night. The venue was like a nighttime secret garden with plenty of twinkly lights. The vintage style carried over into our seating area with its loveseat and wingback chairs, the low centerpieces with their dusty, romantic hues, and the champagne and lace linens. All the while we kept black as a constant accent to reiterate the Black Tie theme. Cake and desserts were from our favorite bakeries in my hometown, Ocala, Florida.

The Look: Above all, I wanted to feel confident and comfortable. I wore blue velvet shoes, following the tradition of blue wedding shoes from my mother and sister. To be honest, my dress was the inspiration for the entire wedding. I built everything around it. The lace, the asymmetry, the not-quite-white color, the glitzy belt, the fact that it made me feel beautiful – all things that made it the perfect thing for me to wear as I married my honey. My makeup artist, Kendra Chaney did a smokey eye on me with defined brows, as I had a birdcage veil covering my face during the ceremony. My hair was pretty simple with some fingerwaves, allowing the veil to take center stage. The whole look was very coquettish, as was my intention. I wanted my bridesmaids to be individually beautiful with a fabulous lacey dress that suited their personality and style. They each had some kind of braid incorporated into their hairstyle.

The Moments: The “first look” we did with our photographer Dana Goodson was so special. Dana found a little park behind our venue and my sister, also my Maid of Honor, walked me to Adam, standing with his back to me. That allowed us to have a genuine, private moment that was just about us and our love before the whirlwind that was to ensue. I was calm and focused by the time the ceremony rolled around. Another fun moment was when I couldn’t get Adam’s ring on during the ceremony and really had to jam it on there. We got a laugh out of it and the light-heartedness I think Adam was looking for in our ceremony. His ring was a whole size too small.. oops. The best moment, though, was turning to face our guests after being pronounced husband and wife. Biggest. Smiles. Ever.

The Advice: Crystal, our wedding planner from Style & Grace Events, was invaluable the day of the wedding. I would have been worrying all day had I not been able to rely on her and her assistant. Even if you only hire a planner to coordinate the day-of, make the investment. It will take a lot off your shoulders. My advice is not to lose sight of your and your spouse-to-be’s vision for the special day. Everyone has an opinion of what you should do but it’s your wedding and you can do anything you want.

March, 2014 Throwback: Beautifully Refined Bridal Style with Photos by Benj Haisch Photography

December 25, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

pretty bridal style with photography by Benj Haisch | via junebugweddings.com

Classically elegant and refreshingly refined, bride Kendra walked down the aisle simply glowing in an exquisite Rivini wedding dress. Her timeless chignon and naturally beautiful makeup brought an air of gracefulness that was perfectly captured in these gorgeous photos by Benj Haisch Photography. I absolutely love her bridal style!

The Couple: Kendra and Eric

The Wedding: 10.19.2013 – Monterey Peninsula Country Club, Carmel, California

The Vision: I wanted something that was timeless and comfortable, so we didn’t do anything too over the top. The Rivini dress was completely different from anything I had envisioned, but ultimately met my criteria in so many ways. I wanted a sleek dress but I knew I didn’t want strapless. When I tried on the dress, the beadwork and lace felt somewhat vintage and it complete fit the classic look we were going for.

The Style: My husband loves my hair up and had I worn it down, it would have covered up my favorite part of the dress – so, naturally I wore it up. I wanted a low bun that was not too messy, but not too stuck up. All I wanted was a simple, low ballerina-esque bun. I did my own make-up since the only thing I was truly worried about was how my husband saw me and I didn’t want to look anything different than myself. I felt beautiful and natural.

The Dress: I chose my dress because it was the clear winner of all of the dresses I had tried on. It was flattering and, as I mentioned earlier, met all of my criteria. There was nothing particularly magical about it, and I definitely had panicked moments after choosing it, but the thing that stuck out about it was that four people with completely different tastes loved it (my mom, mother-in-law, sister, and myself).

The Accessories: My Nana gave me her grandmother’s ring to wear for my “something borrowed” and “something old” item. Hearing Nana tell the story behind the ring made the offer even more special. Her sons (my grandmother’s father) had saved up to buy it for her when she had worn out the ring given to her by her late husband.

My husband gave me the most beautiful diamond earrings and wrote the sweetest note before I left for the church. I haven’t taken them off since the day of the wedding, and the note he wrote had me crying before I arrived at the church.
