Marfa, Texas Wedding at the Capri Lounge

March 10, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Marfa-Texas-Wedding-Capri-Lounge-Kristi-Wright (14 of 44)

After three proposals (yes, three! And three rings!), Casey and Will were married at the Capri Lounge in Marfa, Texas. The West Texas wedding was inspired by the simple and effortless desert surroundings, with cacti as centerpieces and an aloe plant cake topper. Kristi Wright Photography captured every breathtaking moment, from the spontaneous ceremony rainbow to the first dance with the couple’s favorite song by their favorite band.

The Couple:

Casey and Will

The Wedding:

Capri Lounge, Marfa, Texas

The Inspiration:

Marfa is one of our favorite vacation destinations, and we love the stark beauty of the town and its surroundings. We wanted to create a wedding that reflected that quality. We tried to keep the decor simple, especially considering we had to transport most of it from Austin.

The Proposal:

Will proposed three times with three rings. The first proposal was back at Barton Springs. Will coaxed me out of the house late one cold November night and convinced me to hop the fence for a “late night swim.” As steam rose from the water, he proposed and we celebrated with a quick, cold dip. The second proposal was a few weeks later as we danced to one of our favorite bands, Ramsay Midwood, who would later play at our wedding. As we were twirling he slipped the ring on my finger and whispered in my ear. The third proposal was at my parents’ farm in North Carolina right before Christmas. I always thought I would get married on the farm and he wanted to make sure that at least a portion of the proposal happened there. Now I have three pretty rings, each with a sweet memory attached.

The Moments:

Definitely the dance floor. Ranking number one was our first dance — “Home In Your Heart” by Solomon Burke. It was so much fun to spin around, get down, and shake it out with Will. Ramsay and his band ended up playing late into the night, and everyone was cutting loose and having a blast.

The Couple Recommends:

Jeff was the best – he made everything we needed from the website to the tote bags and it all came out exactly as we had hoped and described. Always great to work with someone who knows what you want and makes it all so nicely.

Kristi Wright did a wonderful job photographing the weekend’s events and we are so happy to have so many great photos to remind us of all of the fun.

Vintage Bohemian Wedding at Avant Garden

March 9, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Photography by www.khanhnguyenphotography.com

High school sweethearts Amanda and Mike envisioned a wedding centered around laughter and love. The vintage bohemian styling set the stage for a glamorous, yet casual and relaxed day where the couple fell head-over-heels for each other all over again in front of their closest loved ones. The wedding ceremony took place over dinner at the gorgeous Avant Garden in Houston, Texas. Khanh Nguyen Photography captured every silly, intimate, and breathtaking moment the couple shared on their most special day.

The Couple:

Amanda and Mike

The Wedding:

Avant Garden, Houston, Texas

The Inspiration:

Mikey and I decided at the beginning that we wanted our wedding to be a complete representation of us as a couple. That meant throwing tradition out of the window! Our decor was a vintage-bohemian mixture. We had vintage wedding day photos of our friends and family members, tea-stained lace table cloths and birdcages hanging from saris. My bridesmaids chose their white bohemian-style dresses and they really complimented my beaded wedding dress. I had a custom made headpiece and jewelry made using fabric and beads from my dress. They were beautiful!

Our wedding was all about connecting with the people we love. Mikey and I didn’t want our wedding just to be about the two of us… we wanted it to be about our two families and friends coming together! We even had tattoos of our faces as party favors. That way, we’d be with our guests all night long.

In addition to these gorgeous images by Khanh Nguyen, we’re lucky enough to have the vintage-esque wedding film created by Julie Christine to share with you as well!

The Moments:

Although it is incredibly hard to choose, my top favorite moment of the wedding was our pedi-cab ride from our venue to our hotel. As we weaved through the Houston skyscrapers, we were able to soak in the many beautiful moments that had just occurred.

The Couple Recommends:

When working with our photographer, Khanh Nguyen, he asked me what in particular I wanted captured at the wedding. I replied, “Us showing laughter and love.” In every picture, you can see that he captured laughter and love. I couldn’t tell you how special these photos are.

Bohemian Style Engagement in Nebraska

March 9, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Bohemian-Style-Engagement-Nebraska-The-Mullers (7 of 26)

We love when an engagement session takes a creative turn, both in fashion and location choices. Omaha, Nebraska couple Marisa and Nicolas ventured into a beautifully deconstructed area outside of the city for their engagement session with The Mullers. The bohemian style engagement incorporated three outfit changes, beginning with casual free spirit and ending with boho wedding day-inspired looks. The epic protea-centered bouquet by I Bloom made the perfect prop with its wild and unkempt arrangement.
