Beautiful Backyard Wedding in Richmond VA

Nick and Krystle’s easy-going personalities really showed through in their wedding design. Picnic blankets, wild plants, candles, and handmade touches really brought a cozy feel to this backyard wedding in Richmond, VA. The couple incorporated the bride’s Hawaiian roots by participating in a pig roast, which catered an authentic meal for their guests. We love this bohemian, laid-back style that photographer Ash Carr so perfectly captured!

The Couple:

Nick and Krystle

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Richmond, Virginia

The Inspiration:

We like to think of ourselves as a very relaxed and low-key couple. We enjoy picnicking, all things vintage, organic, and re-purposed. We love to be creative and wanted our wedding to reflect that. Naturally, a vintage-bohemian vibe was the essence of our wedding. We planned the majority of our wedding and sourced all the decor from thrift and vintage shops. Nick made mini pallet tables for the reception. We wanted a very neutral color palette for our wedding day fashion. We left it up to our bridal party to pick the color and their own outfits. It was important to us that they wore something that they would wear again. Nick bought his groomsmen vintage ties and pocket squares he found, and I bought my bridesmaids layered necklaces to go with their dresses.

The Moments:

Our favorite wedding moment was saying our vows to each other. We wrote our own vows, and it was a really beautiful moment where we felt that it was just us, expressing our love for one another without worrying about anyone else or anything going on behind the scenes. Of course it was a real tear jerker. Another favorite moment of mine is Nick dancing in the field with an umbrella and a bottle of bourbon just being so carefree.

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographer, Ash Carr, captured our day beautifully. She is such a doll with so much talent and patience. Our day of coordinator, Kelly Harrison of The Wedding Rabbit, was a life saver. We hired her 6 days before our big day and really helped us tie up loose ends and organize. These gals helped us make our day really special and I am so grateful they were apart of our day.

Botanical Inspired Wedding at Sun River Gardens

July 11, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Maria Corona Photography in Salt Lake City, Utah | All rights reserved Maria Corona Photography 2015

Jordyn and Cooper’s simply elegant wedding was surrounded by lush greenery and warm, bright florals. This couple let nature shine through on their wedding day, and the effect was gorgeous! The Sun River Gardens in Orem, Utah created the perfect backdrop for the beautiful couple to share sweet moments. The bride fashioned a classic mantilla veil with her formfitting, elegant gown. Their whimsical theme was complete with a topsy-turvy cake atop a tree stump. Candles, a sparkler send-off, and talented photographer Maria Corona made this wedding an effortlessly romantic night to remember!

The Couple:

Jordyn and Cooper

The Wedding:

Sun River Gardens, Orem, Utah

The Inspiration:

We had a very botanical themed wedding. We both love being in nature and it definitely inspired the decisions we made. Her ring is set in a way that it looks like leaves and we had lots of flowers and greenery for the wedding day.

Rustic Chic Colombian Wedding

July 10, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Rustic-Chic-Colombian-Wedding (23 of 38)

Through a mutual friend’s poker night, Christine and Oscar met, and it was love at first sight. The couple wished for a wedding rich in Colombian culture that also carried a mix of tradition and modernity. Their reception venue, Taller de Oficios de Barichara, is not just a beautiful spot, but is also a school that preserves the traditional, native crafts of Colombian culture. This dark-blue and warm-red styled wedding was surrounded by beautiful architecture, which told its story through the gorgeous photos captured by Jean-Laurent Gaudy. We absolutely love event planner Zayda Pabon’s design choices and Christine’s bridal fashion — this wedding is sure to inspire!

The Couple:

Christine and Oscar

The Wedding:

Taller de Oficios de Barichara, Barichara, Colombia

The Inspiration:

We wanted something very colorful and festive that would fit the Colombian culture and a religious wedding. I asked the wedding planner to try and set a “rural chic” atmosphere. The global impression was a perfect mix of tradition and modernity. Our color palette of blue and red was also very present everywhere.

The Moments:

It’s very difficult to pick just one! The whole day went flawlessly, and we enjoyed all of it! We loved it all from the religious ceremony where we first saw all of our family and friends waiting for us, to the photo session with Jean-Laurent with just the 2 of us after church, to the speeches where we all cried and Oscar started singing with the band during the party. Different emotions at different moments of the wedding but overall it was a perfect day! We just wish it would have lasted longer!
