Qerina and Mitchell’s fall fiesta wedding at The Barkley House is here to add a pop of color to your day! Balancing fall jewel tones, woodland whimsy, and Mexican-inspired elements, the couple and Sara Gillianne Weddings & Events created a vibrant setting to celebrate their love. Qerina had known she wanted Jessi Field Photography and Caleb Pierce Visuals to capture her day since she was in high school, so their presence made the wedding even more personal.

The Inspiration:

We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us, so the words that went through our minds were: colorful, bohemian, and organic. Our colors were jewel tones, so I imagined a woodland fairy tale with a Spanish “fiesta” flair. Chloe took my ideas and created the perfect combination of the two. By incorporating Mexican blanket runners, wildflowers and cacti, succulents and tree stumps for the centerpieces and cake decorations, it was a woodland fairytale fiesta come true! While our wedding was perfect aesthetically, it also FELT beautiful. Between our friends and family, Mitchell and I were surrounded by the coziest, most celebratory aura of love.

From the bride: I’m definitely more a tomboy, so I wanted to keep my hair, makeup and accessories as simple and natural as possible. I got my lace and crochet dress custom-made on Etsy, so it fit me and accentuated my curves perfectly. I am petite, and it hit me at an odd length, so I decided to get it hemmed to my knees. I feared that September in Florida would still be sweltering hot, so I considered getting the long sleeves taken off, as well. But once it was hemmed, the length made it pleasingly edgy while the long sleeves became a feminine and romantic touch. Don’t get me wrong – I was sweating the entire day, but I felt freaking beautiful, so who cares?!

The Moments:

I know everybody says the ceremony is their favorite part of their wedding, but that’s because it IS the wedding. Our ceremony, particularly the vows, were uniquely us. As Mitchell said in his reception speech, “We are two individual people who make up an individual couple.” We both choked up while reading our vows, but eventually made it through them, and it was absolutely the most perfect moment. We soaked up every second of it. After all of the stress of planning for nine months, it all went away the moment we finished our vows and kissed each other for the first time as husband and wife.

A close second was when we had our “first look.” It was such a beautifully suspenseful moment in which we were able to hug each other and tell each other “I love you” before being surrounded by friends and family. Mitchell said my dress was beautiful, and I told him how handsome he looked. Being able to see each other and have that tender moment documented where we could hug/kiss/cry/laugh/smile before the ceremony was important to us.

The Couple Recommends:

All of our vendors went above and beyond our expectations, but Jessi Field and Caleb Pierce were by far our favorites. They are two beautiful souls who work seamlessly together, and their vision is unmatchable. I’ve known I wanted the two of them to capture my wedding day since high school, so for them to actually be able to document our day was a dream come true! Their talent spilleth over.
