From walking their bulldog around downtown Chicago to playing guitar and singing by the grand skyline, Vicki and Chris’ engagement session was full of a few of their favorite things. The quirky and colorful engagement session in Chicago was captured by Ed & Aileen Photography, who really brought out the laughter, love, and liveliness in the soon-to-be newlyweds. Vicki and Chris seem like a couple who always have a trick up their sleeve, and we love that they pulled out big red clown noses at the end of their engagement shoot!
Rachel and Rob envisioned an elegant affair that reflected their playful personalities. With the help of Oh So Lovely Events, they achieved a colorful and sophisticated wedding their loved ones will always remember. Jessica Love Photography beautifully captured the vibrant color palette of cobalt, tangerine, fuchsia, and kelly green, as well as the sweetest moments shared between Rachel and Rob during their first look before saying “I do!” As if the bold colors and tender glances weren’t enough, we can’t get over our love for Rachel’s wedding gown, which was handmade by her mother!
We really wanted our wedding to have a simple elegance to it. We wanted all of our guests to feel welcome and comfortable and appropriately thanked for being a part of our wedding day. We also wanted to be sure that we were creating a day that honored both of our families. Marie, our wedding planner, was a huge help in taking our abstract ramblings of ideas and feelings and transforming them into design and decor.
The Moments:
My favorite moment from the wedding was the first look. So many of the big moments in our relationship have been just the two of us. We really wanted an opportunity to have that moment on our wedding day as well. It was so special.
Also, I wouldn’t call myself a high stress bride, but there were definitely some jitters there on the morning of the wedding. When we got to see each other, it was like a weight had been lifted. Everything was instantly better that we were together.
The Couple Recommends:
Marie Gilman from Oh So Lovely Events is amazing! She’s actually a friend of ours from undergrad, so it was so great to have someone who knew us so well and who knows the wedding industry so well helping us through it all. She never pushed her personal design preferences on us – she helped us find what we liked and represented us as a couple.
Gretel Adams from Sunny Meadows Flower Farm made the most beautiful arrangements. They were organic and elegant and more than I could have imagined.
Jessica Love is incredible! We knew after doing an engagement shoot with her that we loved working with her, and the wedding day just further proved that. She has such a calming demeanor, is a true professional, and captures the moments so beautifully and naturally.
Never have we been so happy for a chapel to have windows until Marta and Simon’s Queensland countryside wedding where the view was so magnificent you couldn’t take your eyes off of it. From the soft light beaming through the church ceremony to the cotton candy-colored sunset before the newlyweds headed into their reception, Van Middleton Photography captured the incredible scenery of Marta and Simon’s day.
We know what we like so the dress, suit and bridal party clothes just fell into place. We had a bit of time between our engagement and the wedding so we stumbled onto a lot of our decorations over time and when we did we knew what would work for the day we wanted to create.
The Moments:
My best friend Roy became a celebrant so he could marry us on the day, so getting married by him was very special. Plus, joining our many circles of friends, some from interstate, in one place for a big celebration was wonderful.
The Couple Recommends:
Definitely our photographer. Van was a pleasure to have with us on the day. We love his work, and his personality just fit with us and the bridal party. Most of the time we had no idea where he was – he was in stealth mode – but captured the essence of our day beautifully. Our venue was also wonderful, they were all so helpful and accommodating and the place is just stunning.
A special thanks to Marta and Simon for sharing their incredible Queensland wedding with Junebug! Love Van Middleton‘s photography? Be sure to check out Claire and Alex’s rustic beach wedding in Australia for more gorgeous images!
