Effortlessly Elegant Missouri Wedding at The Lalumondiere River Mill and Gardens

Laura and Christopher decided to have their wedding at The Lalumondiere River Mill and Gardens after searching for unconventional wedding locations in St. Louis, and the place looked like a fairy tale for their special day. Wanting something feminine that would blend in well with the outdoor surroundings, the couple settled on a color palette of ivory, light pinks, faint peach, and sage green. They customized every bit of their wedding, from having their twin boys walk Laura down the isle to having Laura’s father officiate the wedding. They even incorporated music from their favorite score composer, John Williams, into both the ceremony and the first dances at the reception.

The Couple:

Laura and Christopher

The Wedding:

The Lalumondiere River Mill and Gardens, House Springs, Missouri

I’ve always loved lace and hit the jackpot with my dress from BHLDN. All their dresses are so beautiful and dreamy, and mine was exactly what I was looking for. I went with gold vintage-inspired jewelry from J. Crew and Kate Spade.

My favorite parts of the day would have to be our twin boys walking me down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme song, my dad performing the ceremony, my mom and best friends decorating, the BBQ and, of course, marrying my best friend.

Since we were both working full time and raising two boys, everything had to be simple, from finding a dress to booking a caterer. Once everything was booked, we focused on making the ceremony itself very personal and special.

I wanted something comfortable, simple and affordable for the bridesmaids, so we went with a forest green trapeze dress that can be worn again in the future. The groom and groomsmen all wore light grey suiting.

My mother and I designed our seating chart in lieu of having a specific seating arrangement. My mother, bless her, did just about everything else. She hand panted all the signs, tied flowers on chairs, placed arrangements, made pies from scratch, and much more.

Our music choices were tailored to our personal taste. As a family, we love Jurassic Park and Star Wars and John Williams.

Ocean Inspired Watercolor Wedding at Newagen Seaside Inn

March 25, 2016 | editorial team

Ocean-Inspired-Watercolor-Wedding-Newagen-Seaside-Inn-29

Lex and Rodney said “I do” at the Newagen Seaside Inn overlooking gorgeous Maine beaches and sunsets that reminded Lex of home. The couple selected a blue color theme that was inspired by mussel shells and the ocean – there were even mussel shells on the tables and the wedding cake! Lex water-colored the invitations, menus, and table settings, and her bridesmaids all wore various shades of blue and teal. Bethany and Dan Photography was on-scene capturing every sweet moment from Lex and Rodney’s big day, from the intimate outdoor ceremony to the reception with all their family and friends.

A close family friend wrote our entire ceremony, pulling upon different elements that were meaningful to us. Neither of us are religious, but we still wanted to have a meaningful and spiritual ceremony. We also asked my sister to do a reading and she tied in our love for our dog, which was perfect. We each wrote our own vows. He went first and I could barely speak when it was my turn!

Lex grew up in Maine and couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere other than right on the water. Since Rodney is from the midwest, we knew this would be destination wedding for half our guests and we wanted a venue with enough accommodations for everyone to stay the weekend. We were married over Labor Day weekend and having all of our friends and family spend three days with us on the beautiful Maine coast was perfect.

Our colors were inspired by mussel shells and the ocean, which are things that remind me of home. We didn’t have a specific color in mind, but blue was the theme. Lex hand water-colored our invitations, menus and table settings. The bridesmaids wore various shades of blue and teal and the bride’s shoes were a watercolor pattern. We even had mussel shells on the tables and on the cake!

Romantic Austin, TX Garden Wedding at The Allan House

March 25, 2016 | editorial team

Romantic-Austin-TX-Garden-Wedding-Allan-House-21

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, The Allan House was the perfect spot for Kaleen and Thomas to tie the knot. After the ceremony, the couple treated their guests to a DIY scotch and cigar bar in the courtyard of the Victorian mansion, and the natural beauty of the venue went well with the green garden color theme. Stephanie Rogers Photography captured the couple as they said “I do” and later danced the night away in front of their family and friends.

The Couple:

Kaleen and Thomas

The Wedding:

The Allan House, Austin, Texas

Romantic-Austin-TX-Garden-Wedding-Allan-House-1

We chose the Allan House in Austin, Texas because we loved the location of the venue, and the venue had a natural beauty that didn’t require much extra decorating.

We had a scotch and cigar bar which in a sense were our wedding favors. The scotch and cigar bar was a real hit, and allowed the guests to have a fun time and share in our memories rather than expensive favors that they may or may not keep.

My step-father officiated our wedding. He got ordained specifically for our wedding, and he did a beautiful job. He was so invested in our wedding that our ceremony really felt very personal.

For our processional and recessional songs we hired a bagpiper who played traditional Scottish wedding songs, and Scotland the Brave.  The bagpipes were a fantastic addition to give our ceremony a cultural atmosphere.

I wore a simple BHLDN gown that had no special decorations in the front. My veil was the 200 year old family veil from my husband’s family that has been worn by the ladies of the family since the early 1800s. The veil was absolutely gorgeous, and really connected me to my new family. My bridesmaids wore a green dress that matched the neckline of my gown.

Apart from our first dance, we had a special song that we dances like maniacs to, and our friends and family went wild with us. Our dance helped us relax and really enjoy dancing with each other and not worry how we looked and truly show off our ‘real’ relationship.

Our wedding colors reflected a green garden. Various shades of green with blue Scottish thistles. We chose our colors to emulate a garden since our wedding occurred in the ‘backyard’ of a historical Victorian home in Austin.

Stephanie Rogers Photography were a calming presence during our hectic day. They were there early (before me and my bridal party even made it!), and they stayed to the very end. You knew that they were there, but they never got in the way or distracted from the events. They captured moments from our wedding that I didn’t even know happened. They were perfect.
