Deciding to get married is a monumental decision, but if you don’t want to stress over planning a big wedding you have the option to elope, which is exactly what Ivana and Jan decided to do. They said “I do” in traditional Hawaiian style on Oneloa Beach in Kapalua, Maui. Their ceremony included the Hawaiian rituals of chanting, blowing of the Pu, Hawaiian prayers, and a personalized speech about building a lasting commitment to each other. Angie Diaz Photography took some fantastic portraits of the couple during their ceremony and after, posing on the black rocks of Makaluapuna Point and drinking cans of beer from the Maui Brewing Co.

Susan was an angel helping me to relax and get ready before my wedding. As it was an elopement wedding, I missed having my girlfriends around a bit but she made it disappear and more importantly helped me to look great.
Our officiant Ernest made it very personal, and we really enjoyed his speech about commitment to each other and that it’s important not only to be lovers but also best friends. Which is very important aspect of our relationship. It was just perfect.
I wanted to look like myself and wear something I could like looking at in ten years time and still be enjoying it. On the other hand I wanted something with a spark as well, something stylish so I decided to go with crop top and long skirt leaving just a bit of bare skin out.
The most important thing to us when planning our wedding was to actually make the decision to elope. Once we’d agreed to go through with it, it was very quick. First we thought to pay some wedding agency to arrange everything but when Jan found great reviews of the officiant Ernest, da barefoot warrior, we decided to do everything separately.
