Scandinavian Midsummer Wedding at Hotel Koster

Therese and Rasmus decided to host a weekend wedding on Koster Island, recreating the perfect summer vibe they had come to know after spending the past few summers at a cabin by Grebbestad. They wanted their guests to relive the very best summer memories they all shared together, and Hotel Koster was big enough to host their guests and small enough to maintain the intimate atmosphere they wanted. Photographer Tone Tvedt captured the couple saying “I do” in a small church surrounded by idyllic green fields and a small pebbled road before they headed over to the hotel for the reception. To mix things up, Therese and Rasmus decided to cut the cake after the ceremony but before the reception so that even their young guests could enjoy it!

We are not very formal people, so a very formal wedding would not be the perfect match for us. However, the atmosphere of the island as well as our summer memories brought together made is easy for us to set the vibe. “Scandinavian midsummer!”

As the bride has an interest in music, the planning of the ceremony became important. The ceremony was personalized through music and poems. Friends and family of the couple preformed as well as the choir “Jentekoret Stas”, which the bride is a part of, came all the way from Oslo to perform at the ceremony.

With still a couple of hours remaining for dinner we did a “wedding-twist” and decided to serve the wedding cake after the ceremony. It gave the wedding cake the extraordinary attention that it deserves and everyone including the flower boys and girls, who were too young to take part at the dinner table, could eat cake. And, it certainly made hungry guests happy!

The tables were decorated with green leaves and small flowers. We organized our guests around smaller tables to make conversations easier. Every table was named by a city that we as a couple had been to and shared great memories. By the plates every guest got a small booklet with presentation of each guest presented at the wedding. Since we decided the seating of our guests in advance the booklet made it easy for the guest to start conversations and to get to know each other.

Rasmus wore a black tuxedo and for the wedding dinner he changed his outfit to a white one. I had my dress in “separated parts” containing of a layered skirt, silk top and laced bolero. In the evening I took of my bolero and the dress became “new”. I wanted to keep the accessories only to flowers.

Timeless Florida Garden Wedding at Bella Collina

April 23, 2016 | editorial team

Getting married at Bella Collina allowed Jasmine and Devin to maintain the countryside garden theme they envisioned for their wedding, despite it being winter. Bella Collina also has a timeless feel that captured the enchanting spirit of Florida. Jasmine has a deep love for Pride and Prejudice, the 1920s, and all things romance, and she kept those things in mind as she designed the invitations and decorations for the reception. Photographers Nate + Lori captured every moment from Jasmine and Devin’s romantic wedding, starting with their adorable first look.

The Couple:

Jasmine and Devin

The Wedding:

Bella Collina, Orlando, Florida

One of the first things we choose was the wedding invitation papers and we then choose colors within that paper we liked. Also, I have always loved pink and could not imagine not having it in the wedding. The rest of the colors were picked because we wanted a very natural look to our flowers. We wanted it to feel like an enchanting garden.

We met in Orlando at UCF and we wanted to get married there when we looked around we were looking for a venue that would be attentive to our wedding and did not have multiple events going on that day. Also, we wanted a venue that made you feel like you were outside of Florida and captured the enchanting spirit.

I did not want a dress that was too modern. The best part of my dress was the shape, it made me feel like a grown up princess. I had always imagined I would wear a ball gown but after trying on my dress I loved how it made me feel and look. The bridesmaid dresses looked like they were from old Hollywood in the 20s. The groomsmen suits were a great mix of both timeless with a touch of modern which is very much the grooms style.

Our photographers are amazing!!!! I cannot explain how wonderful they are to work with. They made the atmosphere light and easy. They never made us feel uncomfortable or even like anyone was around. We keep saying there is no one else we would want to do our photos for our future events.

Our wedding planner had a great idea of pulling us away and giving us a private room to enjoy the cocktail hour foods and just take five minutes together without anyone and just really embrace how we felt for each other at that moment.

California Countryside Wedding at Hidden Villa

April 23, 2016 | editorial team

California-Countryside-Wedding-Hidden-Villa-29

When Adrienne and Geoff were planning their wedding, they tried not to take the details too seriously. They wanted to plan a day that was low-key and that felt like a big dinner party. With the help of an amazing wedding planner, Colleen Gregory, and a local and organic caterer, Feel Good Foods, they were able to do just that. They also wanted a venue that had beautiful scenery that they had a connection with, and Hidden Villa was perfect because Adrienne went to farm camp there as a child. Photographer Alexandra Wallace captured all the sweet moments from Adrienne and Geoff’s big day, from their first look to the reflection time they had with one another after the ceremony.

We wanted somewhere with beautiful scenery and that had a connection to us. As a child Adrienne actually went to farm camp at Hidden Villa. We also loved that the flowers for the wedding could come right from the farm.

I wanted a dress I felt like myself in. Something that was comfortable and beautiful at the same time. I actually bought a dress from BHLDN and returned it because I saw my dress on a wedding blog. I found a location in San Francisco and went to try it on and was totally smitten.

My great uncle is a ship captain so we asked him to be the officiant. The three of us worked together to come up with a ceremony that felt perfect for Geoff & me.

Taking some time to ourselves after the ceremony to reflect for a few minutes with each other was the most memorable part of the day. We took about 10 minutes right after the ceremony to have a glass of champagne and really enjoy how amazing the whole day was turning out to be.

The food was definitely the most important part of our wedding. Local and organic food is really important to us as a couple so we wanted to find a caterer who focused on that. We also really wanted it to feel like a huge dinner party with everyone we cared about. We had 3 long tables set up in a horseshoe and dinner was served family style so there was lots of passing and sharing. We honestly couldn’t have asked for better food. People are still talking about it.

With the help of our wedding coordinator Colleen and family members we DIYed most of the wedding decor. We didn’t have a DJ for the dancing. We put together a Spotify playlist and had one of our friends make sure it was started at the right time.
