We can’t believe how breathtakingly unreal this engagement session’s British Columbian mountain views are! When Laura and Michael first contacted Mathias Fast Photography about taking their engagement photos, they knew they wanted an incredibly epic session with plenty of Canada’s nature on display. As to not distract from the elaborate landscapes behind them, the couple chose a natural look with understated neutral-toned attire. The beauty of Wahleach Lake and Bridal Veil Falls, aptly named for its whitewater veil-like appearance, speaks for itself in this couple’s amazing engagement session.
Sarah and Mark’s wedding at Portnahaven Hall blends Scottish tradition with a natural woodland flair! The couple knew they wanted relaxed, organic vibes for their ceremony and reception halls, so they worked closely with Archipelago to develop amazing potted herb and foraged plant decor that also doubled as wedding favors! Sarah’s Jenny Packham gown was a total showstopper with its 1920s inspired dramatic beading, and Mark chose a Scottish kilt to honor his family’s traditions. Caro Weiss Photography captured every moment of the day, including some absolutely stunning couple portraits on the Scotland coast.
The Couple:
Sarah and Mark
The Wedding:
Portnahaven Hall, Islay, Scotland
The most memorable moment was coming into the gallery and seeing Mark standing under the beautiful wreath Archipelago made, completely surrounded by all of our friends and family.
We said our vows at Outback Art, a gallery on the north west side of the island, the coastal area around the gallery holds special memories for both of us as it’s first place I took Mark when he came over to Islay to visit 10 years ago. The dance was at a community hall in the pretty village of Portnahaven – where all the best Islay weddings are held!
We wanted a very natural, relaxed feeling to our wedding. Working with our florist Nicole from Archipelago we decided to use herbs & foraged plants as our decoration in both the gallery and the hall. The rich yellow flowers on the gorse coupled with the fragrant herbs made both spaces look and smell amazing.
We gave out packets of seeds in beautifully printed envelopes as well as all of the potted herbs and plants that were scattered around the hall. We thought that it was a lovely idea to have flowers that could be planted after the wedding as a reminder of our friends and families trip to Islay.
Our advice is choose brilliant suppliers, research what they’ve done before and make your decision based on which ones best reflect your personality. Don’t be afraid to discuss your budget with them, they will be able to tell you what you can and can’t do with what you have to work with.
We can’t think of anything more relaxed and sweet than Aleksandra and Michael’s Rome engagement session! Their fun romp around Italy’s capital city started off in a nearly-boudoir setting with passionate cuddles, tons of natural bedroom light, and airy cotton pajamas. After the intimate portion of their shoot, Aleksandra and Michael decided to take their romantic session to the street in the cutest matching chambray button-ups and black denim. Rafal Bojar Photography captured the couple in Rome’s incredible (and sometimes unexpected) urban settings!
Congratulations to Aleksandra and Michael, and a huge thanks to Rafal Bojar Photography for submitting this amazing engagement session to Junebug! Want more unique e-sesh inspiration? Check out this super fun IKEA Engagement Photo Session!
