Organic Industrial Louisiana Wedding at Aubrey Hall

June 26, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Calligraphed banners, a make-your-own trail mix station, and a homemade reception dinner are just a few of the countless DIY details that make this Aubrey Hall wedding truly shine. When Chandler and Jesse decided to get hitched, they initially imagined a lush outdoor wedding, but ultimately chose an indoor venue for shelter from Louisiana’s rainy season. Dozens of Persian rugs and mind-blowing florals transformed the already stunning industrial warehouse space into Chandler and Jesse’s dream organic wedding venue. Unveiled Radiance Photography captured the happy couple and all of their newlywed radiance with brilliant portraits and candids alike.

The Couple:

Chandler and Jesse

The Wedding:

Aubrey Hall, Monroe, Louisiana

From the beginning of the planning process, our ultimate goal was to create a celebration that our friends and family would remember forever. We wanted it to be memorable, not because of great music and food or cool decor, but because of how good and gracious God is to us. And in light of that, we began planning the biggest party of our lives, celebrating the God-given gifts of marriage and love.

Due to the unpredictable nature of Louisiana weather, particularly in March, we decided to go with a beautiful indoor venue despite my vision to have an outdoor wedding. With this, our decided ‘vibe’ was organic industrial- flowers everywhere and as much greenery as possible, with warm and intimate details like the rugs down the aisle.

We DIY’d almost everything, actually. We hired our photographer and videographer, and nearly everyone else were very talented and very gracious friends. We did all the food for the reception on our own, with the help of friends and other family. Chandler created most of the wedding signs herself. Her mom coordinated and/or created basically all the decor, including the foraged greenery for the arch, which was crafted by her grandfather.

While stressing over some small detail, Chandler’s recently-married best friend mentioned that she couldn’t even remember what decision she had made about that detail while planning her own big day. In that moment, we realized the small details just don’t matter. So our advice would be to not stress about the small things that won’t change your over-arching vision for the day.

Processional: Future/Past by John Mark McMillan
Recessional: This Will Be by Natalie Cole
First Dance: God Willin’ & The Creek Don’t Rise by Ray Lamontagne

We changed our first dance song the week before our wedding. In pure Louisiana form, severe flooding completely overtook the northern half of the state. Until just days before the wedding, there was still uncertainty about our families’ abilities to travel their short distances to our venue due to road closures. By the grace of God, our families all made it, but the irony of that beautiful song is something we’ll always remember.

There were so, so many beautiful moments throughout the day. But at the very end of the night, after all the love had been poured out by our friends and family, after all the food and the dancing and celebrating, after all the “wedding things” had happened- that’s when the most memorable moment happened. Driving away from the venue, looking at each other and realizing, we’re really married! Such a strange, beautiful feeling.

Surprise Cliffside Elopement in Upstate New York

June 26, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

surprise-cliffside-elopement-in-upstate-new-york-36

There’s nothing we love more than romantic surprises here at Junebug, so this surprise cliffside elopement has us tickled pink! When Jessie Casey Photography decided to team up with Mary Elise Rees Event Design and True North Bridal Studio to create the ultimate Catskill Mountain styled shoot, they knew they wanted to capture just how intimate and beautiful an elopement in upstate New York could be. The shoot’s models happened to be a real engaged couple, and after realizing that an outdoorsy hike-turned-elopement is right up their alley, Lindsay and Matt decided to take the plunge and say “I do!” We love this shoot’s outdoorsy yet refined styling, from the cutest Airstream trailer to the bride’s chic Elizabeth Dye gown paired with a rugged leather belt and hiking boots.

The Couple:

Lindsay and Matt

The Wedding:

Minnewaska State Park Preserve, Kerhonkson, New York

From Mary Elise Rees: A big wedding is not always the right fit for all couples, so Jessie Casey Photography, True North Bridal, and I conspired to create an inspiration shoot that displays how intimate and beautiful an elopement can be in upstate New York.

From Mary Elise Rees: We found a real engaged couple to model, Lindsay and Matt, who were in fact thinking of eloping anyway. Being outdoorsy hikers themselves their style fit perfectly with our vision. After meeting up for a gown fitting at True North Bridal Studio, our couple decided they would actually exchange their vows and rings during our shoot. They actually got married! Inspiration turned into reality!

From Mary Elise Rees: When choosing a venue with grand backdrops, I thought of Minnewaska State Park. I had spent some time growing up in the Catskill region and had remembered the views on hikes there including cliffs, meandering pools, and a waterfall that was easily accessible.

This Franschhoek Valley Wedding in South Africa is a Breath of Fresh Air

June 25, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

iulia and charles wedding (105 of 179)

When Iulia and Charles decided to get married, they knew they wanted to stay true to their roots even if it means forgoing traditional wedding customs – and we are so glad they did! Erlenmeyer flask table centerpieces, an interactive alternative to escort cards, and the loveliest charcuterie cocktail hour are just a few of the many breaths of fresh air that this Franschhoek Valley Wedding offers. Dillon Kin Photography captured the couple, their guests, and the sweetest Great Dane throughout a day filled with pure joy, amazing attention to detail, and of course, romance.

The Couple:

Iulia and Charles

The Wedding:

The Conservatory, Franschhoek, South Africa

As Iulia is Romanian, having a civil ceremony prior to the wedding day is common. So we were legally married a few weeks before our wedding day. This took off all of the legal pressure of the day and we could concentrate on the promises we wanted to make to one another before God instead.

this-franschhoek-valley-wedding-in-south-africa-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air-14

this-franschhoek-valley-wedding-in-south-africa-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air-15

From Iulia: As cliché as may be, the most memorable part of the day for me was walking down the path and seeing Charlie standing under the tree surrounded by the glowing faces of our friends and family. In that moment, it sunk in that I was about to promise my future to my best friend, and the most giant grin came upon my face – I felt like I didn’t have a care in the world.

this-franschhoek-valley-wedding-in-south-africa-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air-16

From Charlie: Without a doubt reading our vows to each other was the most memorable moment. We chose to write our own vows and this was our chance to explain how we each felt about the other in front of all our family and friends. I obviously knew I loved Iulia and wanted to spend the rest of my life with her but thinking of the “why” really made me see all the great in her and in us and hearing her vows echo mine in so many ways without us planning them together was really special.

this-franschhoek-valley-wedding-in-south-africa-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air-17

this-franschhoek-valley-wedding-in-south-africa-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air-20

We had the ceremony under a tree between a stream and a bank with all our friends and family standing around us looking down. Our Great Dane, August, was lying next to our feet the entire time. This created a very relaxed and intimate feel to our ceremony.

this-franschhoek-valley-wedding-in-south-africa-is-a-breath-of-fresh-air-24

It’s important to stay true to who you are as a couple but also as individuals. There are some things you’ll have to compromise on to make sure that both of you are equally echoed in the day, but you don’t HAVE to do anything on your wedding day – it’s yours after all. So if you want dessert before dinner – serve it first!

We are avid trail runners so we have a deep set love for nature. Our dream was to get married under a tree and have dinner in a glass house in the forest. We fell in love with the Conservatory when we attended a charity function there a few years ago – it’s a glass warehouse venue surrounded by trees and mountains. So when it came time to plan a wedding, choosing a venue was a no-brainer. We didn’t even look at others.
