Every wedding is special and unique to each couple, but this Cowaramup farm wedding takes the cake. With most of the wedding being DIY, Hannah and James truly made it their own. With James’ uncle officiating the ceremony held on the family farm, to Hannah’s Nana making her wedding dress, there are plenty of sweet DIY details that will have you reaching for some tissues. Shannon Stent Images photographed the magic of the day.
The Couple:
Hannah and James
The Wedding:
The Wynyard Grove, Cowaramup, Australia
The property we got married on belongs to James’ Uncle Phil and Aunty Ali. The first time I saw this property I was about 15 and James took me along to a family event. The chapel on the property was designed and built by his Aunty and Uncle – I knew as soon as I saw it that I was getting married there.
The most memorable part of the day was being pronounced Mr and Mrs Black. It gave us such a rush!
The photos speak for themselves. Shannon and Jayde were amazing. They are very relaxed and blended in well on the day. They didn’t ask us to do anything weird and we’re great at capturing the moment. They understood what we wanted to achieve and weren’t afraid to try new thing. We got on like good friends, making us (and everyone) feel very comfortable. They are very passionate and best of all, they have a great Troopcarrier 4×4, providing a bid of fun transporting us off-road for the photos.
If everyone tells you it won’t work and it’s too risky, don’t listen to them. We did a 100% DIY wedding, achieving the day we wanted on a tight budget. If you’ve got a vision and your willing to work for it, go for it. Make sure you have people around you who are willing to help you achieve your goal, even if they don’t always agree with you.
We wanted to have an intimate day and small reception. This is hard to do when we both have big families. However we achieved this by having two receptions. A picnic lunch for everyone, followed by a second reception with only immediate family and bridal party. This was in the evening at James parents house under the trees.

This is total opposite of my wedding, but it looks really cool.
beautiful wedding, credits to the photographer, loving the desaturated darkish imagery, perfectly fitting for the locations.
