Sophisticated Winter Wedding at Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC – Emilie and Chase

April 16, 2012 | editorial team

After attending a lot of sunny, warm summer weddings, January could have scared off less adventurous, optimistic couples than Emilie and Chase. But for this chic and stylish pair, it inspired a wedding filled with wintery sparkles in a striking art museum venue. Key to making this cold winter month work was warming up their guests with a rockin’ band that was hot all night. The happy couple’s reward for giving January a chance? A blissful 65 degree day!

What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Fun, chic and fancy

What was your wedding color palette? The basic color palette was deep purple, chocolate brown and winter white, with some sparkle thrown in. These shades were inspired by a peacock feather we used for the “save the dates.”

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? I was not one of those girls who had my wedding planned out for years. Ive seen a lot of beautiful weddings in outdoor venues with romantic color palettes and brides in boots, but this was not me! I wanted the feel of our wedding to be current, sophisticated and unique, while also embracing the month of January. We have been to so many spring and summer weddings and wanted to have an event to remember, which is why we chose January in the first place! Plus, the fact that we had a 65 degree sunny day was awesome.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Oh, wow, it was a bit of a blur! Pulling up to our reception and seeing our slide show on the huge screen on the side of the building was VERY cool, and our guests kept talking about it! We had a fabulous band who kept the party going all night long; hiring them was one of the best decisions.

What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? Hire a planner! You will undoubtedly be less stressed the weeks leading up to the big day. Not having to fool around with vendors, contracts and logistics the weekend of the wedding was priceless! Also, unless you have a very specific venue or time of year in mind, you really dont need more than eight months to prepare.

With all the colors thrown around the flowers, gown, décor and the like, I was not surprised that the color palette was inspired by the peacock save the date card that they used.
