Eclectic South African Wedding at Francines Venue with a Touch of Moroccan Influence

December 19, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

With wide open space, mountains on the horizon, and the feeling of a backyard dinner party, Francines Venue was the perfect place for Blanche and JP to become husband and wife. Their easy-going, DIY wedding had many bohemian and romantic elements from homemade bouquets and flower crowns, Persian rugs, and greenery wreaths hanging around the ceremony and reception space. Both in custom pieces, Blanche designed her wedding dress with Annelize Scheepers and JP was rocking a hand-tailored suit by Tailor Me. Blanche and JP’s good friend, Maryke Albertyn, beautifully photographed their wedding and captured all the small, in-between moments along the way.

Our outdoor ceremony was under trees on a citrus plantation and Persian rugs in the isle. I asked my stepfather and father to both walk me down the isle. My grandfather was our ring bearer and we ended it all off by walking through the flower arch for the confetti.

Not only is Maryke amazing, but she captured those moments so perfectly. Although while also being my best friend, I would not have chosen any other photographer for our day.

I think it came out as a Bohemian, bush, Moroccan style and inspiration was drawn from my surroundings. I loved that I chose my own fabrics and designed my dress as well. JP‘s suit was tailor made and we loved the colour. The rest of the bridal party… guys, blues and girls, something lacy in a different colour.

Hoedspruit in the Lowveld is close to our hearts, small community with amazing down to earth people, beautiful farms and of course those mountains. Specifically the venue, open open open, we wanted all to be included in the party at all times.

We brought a lot of decor from family houses like candle chandeliers and carpets, table numbers and other printouts I designed myself. Flowers we bought and it was the job of the bridesmaids to through a bouquet together and a flower crown for each. We had fun.

Dont overthink it, we wanted to create an atmosphere where everybody could be engaged at all times. This was very important, if you were standing at the bar, seated at your table, standing smoking a cigar, or on the dance floor, everybody was a part of the party, no one had to stand aside and miss any of the action. As long as you have that, the small details like printed menus and perfect flowers does not matter.

Our friends and family are dear to our hearts, and the most important thing for us was that we needed to have fun. That our day should be a feast, sharing food, wine, laughter and dancing the night away like there is no tomorrow.

The California Vibes are Strong in this Montreal Greenhouse Wedding Inspiration at Cactus Fleuri

December 18, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

With all the summer and Palm Springs vibes in this Cactus Fleuri shoot, you would have never guessed it was actually in Montreal. This team of creatives brought the desert vibes up North with the pops of pinks, sage green, and orange. With a table full of color and cactus galore, there’s nothing more perfect than the decor (except maybe the wedding dress)! We are loving the sleek and timeless Ma Chérie Bleue wedding dress topped with a bohemian inspired cape – the macrame details and fringe are to die for. The desserts and cocktails are just as colorful as the decor! There’s a choice of California inspired drinks and sweets prepared by Lecavalier Petrone that look almost too pretty to eat! All of these sweet and fun details were perfectly captured by Lalor Photographie.

We’re Obsessed with the Use of Burgundy and Velvet in This Emotional Flagstaff Wedding

December 18, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Grab some tissues because this Flagstaff wedding will have you weeping by the end of the post. Marisah and Steven’s wedding is an emotional day full of love and joyous tears. Marisah walked down the aisle in a Watters wedding dress where Steven was waiting for her in his luxe burgundy velvet jacket from ASOS. Looking dressed to kill, these two sang worship songs along with their guests before saying “I do.” Their romantic and rustic vibe was perfect for their ceremony in the woods! They brought the outdoors in with lots of florals and greenery in their reception space thanks to Fox and West designing and planning the wedding of Marisah and Steven’s dreams. Cody and Allison Photo and Kaye Shaye Film effortlessly documented every tear, laugh, and special moment in the day.

The most important thing to us in planning our wedding was hiring the right people to make sure that we would have the day that we wanted. Not to just find the quick and easy option but to find what best suited us and what we were dreaming up in our heads.

Have fun in the process of planning and always make sure you choose what you want! It’s your day and thats what matters. You’re going to look back and forget all of the stress but remember how worth it all the planning was. It’s really special seeing all of your hard work and dreams come together on that day!

The most memorable part of our wedding day was having two worship songs at our ceremony with some of our close friends singing and playing acoustic. We met at church, and love to serve and worship Jesus together, so having time to praise God for each other was absolutely incredible. We just knew that His presence was there and we wanted to start off our marriage on the foundation of our faith through worship.

I walked down the aisle to Steven with I Will Follow You by Toulouse playing.  For our very first kiss as husband and wife we played the song You Make My Dreams by Daryl Hall & John Oates and that was our recessional song! Our First Dance song was I Get To Love You by Ruelle.

Working with our photographer, Cody and Allison Photo, was honestly not even working at all. It was very easy-going and light-hearted. The entire day Steven and I felt very comfortable and at ease. As photographers ourselves, we didn’t ever have to worry about him missing a shot or getting the things we wanted. It wasn’t your typical client/couple relationship. Everyone at our wedding got along so well with him, and he felt just like an old friend attending our wedding. He cared about us and our relationship and our love and that translated into the photos he took.

Both of us have grown up most of our lives living in the desert, so we knew we wanted our wedding in the middle of the forest surrounded by trees! This was what inspired our wedding colors to be wine/Burgundy and velvet textures and it fit in perfectly in the month of August. Our look and feel was very romantic with a little bit of rustic, and the style of everything just went perfect in the woods. It literally turned out better than I could’ve ever imagined!

Olivia Citro with Fox & West Designs was an absolute dream to work with. She met with us and took the time to hear exactly what we wanted the look and feel of our wedding to be. From the alter decor to every single flower in my bouquet, different textures, the list goes on. She listened to what we envisioned for our day and made them into an even better reality than I could have ever hoped for. I didn’t have to worry about any of the details on my wedding day because she had already thought of everything. She’s truly gifted in the art of design!
