Eva and Tony’s Ravishing Red Wedding

If you’ve been paying even the tiniest bit of attention to pop culture recently, you’ve certainly heard the buzz about Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s lavish red-themed wedding at the Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte outside of Paris. From their celebrity friends in attendance to her Angel Sanchez dress, the first dance to The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel and the messages inscribed inside their Piaget wedding bands, fans and the press are clamoring for all the details! I can’t wait to see a picture of the 5 tier red wedding cake created by Sam Godfrey of Napa Valley’s Perfect Endings. Reported to be a vanilla-bean pound cake filled with crushed organic raspberry preserves and white buttercream, it sounds delicious! Godfrey is no stranger to creating press-worthy cakes, having worked with celebs like Oprah Winfrey, Jessica Simpson and Courtney Cox, so this one is sure to be a sight to see!

I love the idea of having fun with color in your wedding cake like Eva and Tony did by carrying their red theme through to their cake’s raspberry filling and red outside. Here are some beautiful ways that local bakers have used rich red and blushing pink in their wedding cake designs.

Save the Date Brilliance

July 11, 2007 | editorial team

Hearing from Junebug readers always makes my day, and Monday I received a fabulous e-mail from Seattle area bride Kelly who said “I love your website! Junebug Weddings has been my best source for ideas and vendors. It’s been my experience that all of the professionals I’ve contracted with demonstrate amazing customer service, great business ethics and have incredible talent.” Hooray! Thanks Kelly!

She also sent me a copy of her fantastic save the date postcard, photographed and photoshopped by the talented John Hong of John and Joseph Photography. Kelly and her fiancé Shane were having engagement pictures taken in the Pike Place Market when the wall of posters behind them sparked an idea. John manipulated the poster to their right (look closely) to advertise “A Musical Comedy About Love and Marriage” that includes all their save the date info. They made the photo into a simple postcard with a link to their wedding website on the back and dropped them in the mail. All the guests loved it, and so do I!

What creative ideas did you come up with for your save the dates? I know there are some great ones out there, send them in and share your brilliance!

From Groombug, June 2007
Cannon Beach, Oregon, is one of lifes pleasant surprises. If you go expecting to find rugged ocean beaches, emerald green rain forests, and cozy cabins along the bluff, you wont be disappointed. What will surprise you in this decidedly Cape Cod style resort town, are the gourmet restaurants, the ultra romantic hotels and inns, and the vibrant art and culinary scene that make Cannon Beach a Northwest treasure. This is the perfect place to spend your days hiking, biking, and surfing in the great outdoors, and your nights watching the sunset, dining on delicacies, and cuddling by the fire.

Heres what to do when youre in Cannon Beach…
Relax: Check in to one of Junebugs favorite places.
The Stephanie Inn: Heres where youll find deliciously comfortable beach front rooms overlooking Haystack Rock; complete with fireplaces, soaking tubs, and large LCD screen TVs. Be sure to make reservations in the dining room for one of their incomparable four-course dinners. The first people we met during our visit here were a couple from England who asked us to take their photo. They were celebrating their 22nd wedding anniversary, and 22 consecutive years of staying at the Stephanie Inn.
Blair deLaubenfelsArch Cape House: This Northwest style castle has gorgeously appointed rooms; several with outstanding views of the ocean. We love the Tower Room, with its Louis XIV bed and breathtaking view from the deep soaking tub. Enjoy a three-course breakfast in the dining room for a perfect start to your day.
Surfsand Resort: The newly renovated Surfsand Resort will be finished in August of 2007. We cant wait to stay at this new top-tier property that features luxurious oceanfront rooms and suites, cozy gas fireplaces and 2 person Jacuzzi tubs. The whole place looks and feels like a home away from home.
Play:
Rent a beach bike from Mikes Bike Shop these bikes designed for beach combing allow you to cover miles of shoreline, while getting a fantastic workout.
