Today we have a very special Real Wedding that’s so sweet it spans both of our blogs as well as our Real Wedding Library! Photographers Erin and Ben Chrisman are not only some of the very best wedding photographers in the world, they are also madly in love with one another and when you’re lucky enough to see them together in person, there is no doubt that their love story is one for the ages. They were married in Mexico last November, and they used their creativity and experience attending hundreds of other weddings to create an event for themselves and their friends that was 100%, perfectly, personal.
With many of their friends being wedding photographers one of their biggest goals was to have a “kickass party for all our wedding photographer friends who never get to go to weddings as guests.” How fun is that?
The wedding was officially photographed by one of Erin and Ben’s associate photographers, Aaron Morris of Chrisman Photographers, whose heart-stopping images you are seeing here, as well as by Twin Lens Images, whose work you can see today over on Photobug today along with an interview of Ben and Erin. Don’t miss it!
Another main goal was to have an intimate and meaningful wedding that felt fun, relaxed and spontaneous, without too many rules or formalities. Erin and Ben met in and adore the country of Mexico, so after an intense search for the perfect location, they chose to have a destination wedding at the stunningly unique Hacienda Uayamon in Campeche. It’s a luxury boutique hotel that holds authentic ruins from the 1700s, including the incredible crumbling chapel where their candle-lit wedding ceremony took place.
After throwing out the ceremony they had been rehearsing because it just felt too formal, they asked their friend and officiant Sam to improvise and surprise them with something new. As the wedding began, Erin and Ben walked down the aisle together and were overwhelmed with emotion as all of their guests clapped and cheered along with the live music. For Erin this was her very favorite moment of the day, and “was just the warmest, most encouraging, most embracing feeling I could ever imagine. I was immediately relaxed by it, and it set the tone for the rest of the ceremony. It’s just another example of why sometimes it’s best to let everyone surprise you.”
The wedding reception was a true celebration, and their outdoor setting was simply unbelievable! Surrounded by ancient ruins as well as incredible modern lighting, Erin and Ben danced with their friends and family long into the night. One look at these dance floor images and you’ll see exactly when I mean – what a perfect party!
Huge thanks to Aaron for sharing your gorgeous images, and to Erin and Ben for sharing your wedding story with us! We’re so touched to get to be a part of your wedding experience.
Today’s beautiful Santa Barbara real wedding will be a thrill for any of you Hollywood movie buffs out there – the Groom is Oscar-nominated movie producer Mike De Luca (heard of a little movie called The Social Network? How about Austin Powers? American History X? Pleasantville?) and he and his stunning bride Angelique, plus their darling baby girl, make just about the sweetest combination you could wish for! You can just feel the happiness exuding from these images from photographer Joan Allen. Enjoy!
The Goals: Angelique and Mike’s vision was to create a sophisticated, jubilant, fairy tale wedding for all of their loved ones to enjoy. With The Four Seasons Biltmore Hotel as the backdrop, and event production by Swisher Productions and NAMEvents, design and decor from NAMEvents, lush floral design by Mark’s Garden and chic linens from Wild Flower Linens this wedding was visually spectacular and had an atmosphere of pure joy from beginning to end.
The Design: Using an antique-inspired color palette of cream, white, pink and gold, Angelique and Mike created a warm and inviting, yet super elegant look to their event.
Their romantic and personal wedding ceremony took place outside on the stunning Monte Vista lawn, and throughout it, Angelique and Mike’s baby daughter wouldn’t leave their side. “Our little girl Skylar was 1 year and 5 months old, and I ended up holding her through our whole ceremony. Our guest loved it! It was so sweet to have her up there with us. It was right where she belonged.”
The wedding reception moved into the hotel and took place in the beautiful Palmera Garden and Loggia Ballroom. A candy buffet and wine stoppers were offered to guests as wedding favors, and the cake was a four tier masterpiece that included two layers of strawberry and two layers of red velvet cake. Yum! At the end of the night the treats continued as warm chocolate chip cookies and shots of milk were passed around the party.
The Look: Angelique wanted a simple, elegant bridal look, and the key to it all was her incredible Monique Lhuillier wedding gown. She is such a beautiful bride all on her own, I love that she kept the rest of her look understated – swept back hair by stylist Dean Banowetz, chandelier earrings, and softy pretty makeup! To add a little fun and to feel the love from her girlfriends, Angelique asked them all to help with her “something blue” and sign the bottom of her shoes in blue ink. Love that tradition!
To continue the sleek and classic look, the bridesmaids wore beautiful antique pink long satin dresses and the groom and groomsmen wore black tuxes with black or pale gold ties.
The Moments: For Angelique, being walked down the aisle by her 90 year old “Granddaddy” meant the world to her, and throughout the whole ceremony she and Mike were on cloud nine. The most sentimental moment? Having their little girl there with them on their dream day!
During the reception Angelique loved the moment when she surprised Mike with their “entry song”. “It was the Sopranos theme song “Woke Up This Morning” by Alabama 3. He’s obsessed with Sopranos, so he absolutely LOVED it! He said it was the best gift ever, and I have to say, it was pretty dang cool to walk in to, as the new Mr. & Mrs. Michael De Luca!” Pretty dang cool indeed!
