Unique Backyard Wedding in Manitoba

October 13, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

Veronique-Glen-Moore-Photography-10

Not only are Veronique and Glen a truly remarkable couple, but with the addition of spectacular photographer Curtis Moore of Moore Photography, every moment of their wedding was an explosion of personality and color. For this unique backyard wedding, the couple were married on their family’s land surrounded by loved ones and handmade elements. From a curtain of handcrafted, multicolored origami cranes to Veronique’s own floral designs throughout the day, this wedding is the very definition of one-of-a-kind.

The Couple: Veronique and Glen

The Wedding: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

The Inspiration:We wanted a garden wedding in Glen‘s parents backyard where the whole family would be involved, in the same backyard where Glen grew up. That, and we really wanted it to be a DIY wedding. The setting really represented the connection to family, and the decorations kept along the lines of the beautiful garden that his parents keep.

We also wanted it to be a joyous party, so we made sure to encompass a lot of colour, especially in the 1000 paper cranes that we folded. This tradition, as it pertains to a wedding, allows the couple to learn how to communicate, support each other, and complete a challenging task, strengthening their bond. Veronique loves the pretty things (flowers, candles, etc), and Glen loves woodworking, so the decorations encompassed some rustic wood elements combined the finer pretty things. There wasn’t much room for an aisle, so we came up with the idea of Veronique being “rowed” up to the altar by her dad.

The Moments:Everything, really. There’s not one particular moment that stands out. The preparation, which involved as much family as possible, to the joy and love that people experienced at the ceremony, and the awesome party that was held afterwards, where live-band karaoke was enjoyed by all, while hula-hoops egged us on to keep kissing. The entire party, from start to finish, was flawless, and everyone was so happy to be a part of it. So what was the favourite moment? When everyone smiled…

The Couple Recommends:Curtis Moore was phenomenal – talk about a guy who is a master at his craft. He was able to capture the moments and the emotions without us even noticing him. He came with us to Vegas for our engagement photo shoot, and followed us right to the wee hours of the party. One of the best in the business!

Danny Kramer and his band were amazing. They made everyone feel so at ease with getting up to sing, and the band performed as if they were playing to a crowd of thousands. They were amazing!

Bergmann’s on Lombard made a gourmet dinner in a tent. The food was to die for – from the mini espresso cup mac’n’cheese to the creme brule, and everything in-between.

Eclectic Outdoor Wedding in Germany

October 13, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

Sophie-Rene-Samo-30

Sophie and René’s eclectic outdoor wedding is unlike anything we’ve seen before. The couple are wedding photographers by trade, so they really knew what to look for when choosing photographer Samo Rovan to capture their special day. From flamboyant accessories to carefully curated decor throughout the ceremony and reception, Sophie and René’s wedding is anything but ordinary. In fact, Rovan’s portraits of the couple are absolutely extraordinary.

The Couple: Sophie and René

The Wedding: Gut Mönkhof, Lübeck, Germany

The Inspiration:We knew our wedding venue from working there on a couple of weddings before. We love the atmosphere this old barn and it’s surrounding have. It is such a relaxing, calm place even though it is right in city. We wanted to cherish this atmosphere and the country barn look and feel the location has on its own so we kept the decor simple, focusing more on the lighting of the venue and the wedding ceremony. We tried to create a day for everyone to feel comfortable and to simply enjoy the love and the emotions of the day. Having all our loved ones around us was the most important and amazing thing of our wedding.”

The Couple Recommends:We were more than happy with everyone we had worked with. We are especially grateful for our ceremony officiant Imke who has the gift to touch the heart of everyone she meets. It was a more personal, deeply touching ceremony than we had ever imagined possible. She even made it possible to include light as a main topic within the wedding, making it extra special to us as photographers. She is a very special person to us.

The second professional that absolute blew our mind with his work was our photographer Samo. He was not just fun to have around throughout the whole wedding weekend, he also managed to create pictures that capture the emotions and the love and joy of this day so perfectly! We can never thank him enough. He made it possible to relive this amazing day over and over again. The perfect memories for us!

Colorful Texas Wedding at Starhill Ranch – Chelsea and Patrick

October 12, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

The days are getting shorter, leaves are beginning to fall, so it is with a sad farewell that we bid adieu to summer and spring with this lovely throwback! This darling couple was wed at the Starhill Ranch in Austin and enjoyed delicious BBQ during their reception but don’t think for a second that they forgot to include the glamour! The bride was glowing in a stunning Matthew Christopher gown and the lush, jewel-toned bouquets were the perfect accent to the bridesmaids in varying shades of pale-pink and ivory. Don’t miss this one and the incredible photos captured by Christina Carroll Photography!

The Couple: Chelsea and Patrick

The Wedding: 10.19.13 – Starhill Ranch, Bee Cave, TX

The Goals: We just wanted a get-together with good food, drinks and conversation so our families could get to know each other while having a great time. My family is in Texas and Patrick’s is in Maine so there are not many opportunities to mix!

The Design: The theme of our wedding was Texas, baby! We live in California so this was a chance to get back to my Texas roots and show Patrick’s family some of Texas’ (and specifically Austin’s) charm and hospitality. I wanted a country wedding- from the brown paper invitations, to the barbeque, to the live music, to the ranch setting. Starhill Ranch ended up being the perfect venue for us.

The Moments: As generic as it sounds, just having our loved ones there in the chapel with us on our big day was the most special part for us. Every person we loved was in that room, and knowing that they all bought plane tickets, drove for hours, booked a hotel room, and made it there just to see us be married was so humbling and made my heart want to burst while I was walking down the aisle. Having our mentor from Los Angeles, Joe Shaughnessy, marry us was also a special memory. I’ll also never forget the way Patrick was looking at me during the ceremony. We were both emotional, but did not want to show it!

The Look: I wanted a dress that was a little different, and I fell in LOVE with the Matthew Christopher “Sofia” dress before I even tried it on. There were many different panels, lines, and patterns, and the lace had repeated patterns of hanging flowers almost like wisteria in it. It was my fairy dress. The bridesmaids were all my sisters and sisters-in-law, and they had free reign to choose their own dresses in a nude color. They did such a great job! Everything matched perfectly.

The Advice: Planning a wedding could cause a *few* disagreements with your significant other! But after the wedding is over everything will be much calmer and HAPPIER (at least in my experience)… so just hold on! Our biggest success was choosing Austin as our destination. What a memory!
