Artistic Australian Wedding at Summerlees Estate

May 30, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Stitched Panorama

Danielle and Benjamin’s enchanting forest wedding is like no other! Surrounded by dark, natural greenery, wood elements, and vintage mismatched flatware, their wedding at the Summerlees Estate in New South Wales, Australia was unforgettable. The groom created a breathtaking original art work that mirrors the couple, and it is surely the focal point of decor. Ribbons winding all the way to the alter allow the couple to be surrounded in love as they exchange vows. On his way to the ceremony, the groom road in an original Back to the Future DeLorean, which added to the eccentric wedding design. The bride wore a custom designed gown and held coral, tan and white florals. Topping off this incredible wedding day, the talented photographers at I Got You Babe captured beautiful moments of the couple immersed in their romantic forest wedding!

The Couple:

Danielle and Benjamin

The Wedding:

Summerlees Estate, New South Wales, Australia

The Inspiration:

We wanted a rural, ethereal, Alice-in-wonderland meets woodland fairy feel. All elements gelled well – especially Benji‘s whimsical ribbon art work and the vintage pieces I sourced. Together, my mother and I collected over 40 vintage plates, dessert plates and napkins to adorn the brunch table – everyone was gifted a valentines day card, a unique antique dinner plate, a piece of pure Rose Quartz that had been cleansed and charged by a shaman with love, passion and positive energy, and a ‘Shine’ canvas tote to carry everything home in!

The Moments:

There were so many moments – I’d like to say the whole experience to be honest… It was such a happy, love-filled Valentines Day. To be able to spend it with everyone we love was so special and a day we’ll never forget. The happiest moment for both of was locking eyes with each other as I walked down the aisle and then reading and listening to each other vows under Benji‘s ribbon arch. Benji would probably say it was the moment the wedding gift I organised as a surprise – an Original Back the Future Delorean – arrived to drive him to the wedding!

The Couple Recommends:

We absolutely fell in love with – and have adopted into our family – both Lilli and James (photographer and videographer). We chose them both for their individual artistic abilities and are so pleased with their work. They both contributed to the happy energy on the day and we are so glad to be seeing them both again soon! We’ve definitely made two friends for life. We also want to mention Patty from Summerlees Estate who we absolutely love too. Patty’s positive, cheerful vibrations and energy makes Summerlees Estate the magical wonderland that it is. A super special shoutout must also go to Chef in Your Kitchen, Kelly went above and beyond to make sure my food requirements were met, as I’m a integrative nutritionist and soon-to-be natural foods chef who wanted to be very involved in what we ate. All the food was organic, grass and pasture fed. It was truly one of the most delicious meals we and our guests have eaten – we are still getting rave reviews! Oh! And we also had three wedding cakes – the ‘main event cake’ was made for us by the ever-so-talented Simon Hulm who is a close friend of ours, thanks Simon!!! And the other two cakes were lovingly made by the bride’s soulsisters, Emma and Carla Papas, who made a paleo salted caramel cake, as well as a special bide-only creation consisting of all her fav ingredients: organic coconut oil, coconut butter, berries, walnuts and cacao – YUM!!

Elegant Desert Wedding in Phoenix

May 29, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Elegant-Desert-Wedding-in-Phoenix (13 of 24)

After a casual fling in graduate school in which Scott would leave sunflowers on Ashley’s desk each week, how could the couple not incorporate the meaningful floral into their big day? Sunflowers, lush green vines, dried wheat, and cotton plants were just some of the natural elements at Ashley and Scott’s eclectic, desert wedding! Friends and family gathered at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona to watch Ashley and Scott exchange vows. Ryan Flynn Photography captured the sweetest moments of the couple sharing time together before the reception!

The Couple:

Ashley and Scott

The Wedding:

Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, Arizona

The Inspiration:

We thought of our wedding as a small celebratory dinner party that we just happened to get married at. We wanted the decor to be casual but also a reflection of all these small but significant pieces that represent us and our family. Almost every decorative element at the wedding was made by us, made by our family or was an heirloom. The mason jars and glass milk jars used for the table arrangements were from my great grandparent’s farm in Montana. We used dried wheat, which my family harvests. My Grandma helped make the table decorations. My bridesmaids helped make the bouquets. My dad made us a wood sign. My mom gave me a handkerchief which was my baby bonnet. I wore a simple but elegant Winifred Bean gown. Scott wore a handsome gray suit that he bought with my dad just days before the wedding. We told our wedding party to find something gray to wear that they felt most comfortable in. This casual and eclectic theme turned out more beautiful than I could have imagined.

The Moments:

Scott: My favorite moment was standing at the altar with Ashley. It finally felt official. Even though we were surrounded by family and friends it just felt like her and I up there.

Ashley: My favorite moment with Scott was right after the ceremony. We went on a little hike through the desert with our photographer. It was a perfect break for just us in such a beautiful place. It was our first of many hikes as a married couple. My favorite moment with our guests was when I walked down the aisle. We kept our wedding as small as possible, which is no small feat. Our photographer captured a photo of me walking down the aisle and my friends, my family and Scott are laughing at joke I made about crying. I felt so much love in that moment. All that love and support ended up being one of the most powerful things about getting married. It was lovely.

The Couple Recommends:

Our wedding turned out better and more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. That was thanks to the wonderful vendors that we worked with. Every single wedding professional went above and beyond. Ryan Flynn is a phenomenally talented photographer and he captured our day perfectly. His photos are works of art. Molly and Ryan at The Waverly Salon did magic and they helped make the start of our day uniquely special. I would highly recommend our musicians, Miguel de Maria, Step and Angelito Agcaoili. These three are wonderfully talented musicians and we still receive complements on their entertainment. We would also highly recommend the Desert Botanical Garden as a wedding venue. Aside from the garden being a stellar place, the level of service that we received exceeded our expectations. We are so grateful for these wonderful people that helped create such a beautiful day.

DIY Farm Wedding in Sweden + Film

May 29, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

DIY-Farm-Wedding-in-Sweden-+-Film (9 of 25)

Wanting to create the most special day of their lives, Keith and Emmelie decided to host their DIY farm wedding at Emmelie’s childhood home in Vastana, Sweden. Choosing a place so meaningful, the couple spent two years prepping the barn for the big day! White paper lanterns hung from the ceiling and lights wrapped the wooden pillars. Their day was all about the details, even down to the intricate blue designs on white dishes, which dressed the tables. Every detail was placed with love, even the bride’s mother personally chose and hand painted the chairs. Making sure to capture the breathtaking day at the barn, Shutterbox Films recorded the moments perfectly!

The Couple:

Keith and Emmelie

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Vastana, Sweden

The Inspiration:

We got married at my childhood home which is a farm in northern Sweden. My dad grew up there too and it meant a lot to us to be able to have our wedding in a place that is so meaningful to us. It took two years of hard work from the whole family, especially my parents, to get the barn ready for hosting a wedding and we both spent two summers up there working towards our wedding. It was a real DIY job and a true labour of love.

The “theme” was very much to use what we already had there on the farm, and for it to be inspired by the surroundings in which it was held. Most of the “props” used were things we found around the farm and in the many outhouses. We didn’t have a colour theme or anything, we just felt like letting the nature surrounding us and the farm do most of the the talking. My mum got most of the chairs from flea markets and painted them all, she also picked all the lingonberries and the chanterelles for the favours.

The Moments:

Gosh it is so hard to choose one moment, the whole day just felt like a dream. But our favourite moment was when the dance floor erupted into total dance chaos straight after our first dance and then in the end of the party, at around 3am in the morning, our friend and dj chose to play All You Need Is Love by Beatles, and everyone circled us really tight and sang along together with us. It felt like our hearts would burst, and it was just one of those moments we will never ever forget. It was magical. Another spontaneous thing that happened was that we finished the wedding with a 4am skinny dip in the lake.

The Couple Recommends:

We were really happy with all our vendors and wedding pros and we decided early to only book people we really like and feel we wouldn’t mind inviting as guests if that makes sense. Our fantastic videographer team, Lee and Dawn was awesome, and our photographer Laura rocked it. They made everyone feel at ease and had such a relaxed way about them.
