Harley and Frances focused their wedding planning around the aspects that were most important to them —  great food and amazing photos. After a gorgeous bohemian-styled ceremony at Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, the couple and their guests headed to Hawksworth Restaurant to celebrate at an intimate reception. Orange and yellow wildflowers and simple décor allowed the guests to take in the breathtaking Vancouver landscape. Talented photographer Jennifer Picard captured the beautiful moments at this natural wedding.

From the bride: Harley and I took a moment before the ceremony to exchange private vows near the ocean. We have been an inseparable couple for the past 9 years and taking the time to be alone with my best friend was a moment I’ll never forget. We had the chance to say silly things and express our raw emotions in a way that was just for us.

From the bride: DIY was a big part of what made me feel in control and connected to my wedding. My husband and I designed our invitations, favor wrap, and thank yous ourselves. My sister is a talented artist and crafted our personalized banner as well as helped keep my colour scheme coordinated. My sister, mother, and I spent a day sourcing and arranging florals.

Intimate and Eclectic Montreal Wedding at Tour de Lévis

February 12, 2016 | editorial team

Hadley + Philip wedding, 2015

Although Hadley and Philip fell in love in Southern California, they decided to return to Hadley’s hometown to have their Montreal wedding. Wanting a venue that mixed nature and city, the couple wed at the Tour de Lévis, which has breathtaking views of Saint Helen’s Island, downtown Montreal, and the Saint-Laurent river.  More than anything else, Hadley and Philip wanted their guests to have a good time at a ceremony that was true to their personalities. As luck would have it, they all got to enjoy the intimate celebration while watching the fabulous fireworks displays of the Montreal International Fireworks competition.

If you make sure everyone knows the vibe you’re going for – and surround yourself with people who know you and understand your aesthetic – you can relax a little more on your wedding day.

We wanted to feel as close to nature as possible, while being in the city. My sister found the Tour Lévis in Montreal and it was perfect. Tree lined hilltop in the middle of Parc Jean-Drapeau with views of the city – and on a fireworks night to boot!

I made directional signs using white paint and roof shingles. The guests had to walk up a bit of a hill through the woods to get to the venue, so along the way they were enticed with signs pointing them towards “Oysters” and “Fireworks” and “Dancing.”

We had the ceremony outside and had an eclectic mix of blankets, chairs and picnic tables for people to sit on. A few friends read excerpts from literature. The whole thing was very brief but entirely personalized.

We wanted a secular ceremony, and for it to feel as intimate and meaningful as possible, so we had our best friend Graeme and my sister Morgan officiate for us together.

The speeches from our best friends and my father during dinner were surreal. The hours and hours of dancing were also very memorable!

Vibrant California Wedding at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club

February 12, 2016 | editorial team

Maryemma Sikes And Andrew Warfield Wedding

An elegant reception on a polo field overlooking a breathtaking California ocean; what more could you want for a wedding? Maryemma and Andrew knew that having their wedding at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club would treat their guests to an evening they would always remember. Having grown up playing polo at the Club, Maryemma knew that it would be the perfect venue for the reception. Together with their family and friends, the couple enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour followed by a night of dancing under a garland-draped canopy decorated with fuchsia, orange, and yellow floral arrangements.

At the end of the day, the day is about you and your partner starting the rest of your lives together. If something doesn’t work out exactly how you thought it would, it doesn’t really matter. Getting caught up in all the details can really get in the way of what’s actually important.

Our photographer is the sweetest person ever – she was so patient with our huge family and wedding party (we each had 14 bridesmaids/groomsmen)! We didn’t want to spend hours and hours taking photos, and she accommodated our requests with ease.

I grew up spending my summers in Santa Barbara, and a lot of that time was spent at the polo club, as most of my family plays polo. It was a special place for me, and I knew it would be a unique experience for a lot of our guests to have dinner in the middle of a polo field in Santa Barbara.

Our florist went above and beyond. He is an amazing person and his floral designs made our reception what it was!

The most memorable part of the day was probably dancing with all of our friends and family for hours and hours and seeing how much fun everyone was having. Walking onto the polo field and seeing the tent and everyone enjoying cocktails was also a fun moment.
