Kate and Gregory wanted three main things at their Colorado wedding: good food, beautiful flowers, and fun music. Having the wedding at Kate’s parents’ house was a simple and obvious choice; it gave them access to the property’s biodynamic flower and herb garden, heritage apple trees, a beautiful pond, and 30 acres of open space with a view of the mountains. The team at Calluna Events helped brings Kate and Gregory’s dream wedding to life, and the couple’s friends and families helped DIY the decorations for both the ceremony and the reception. Photographer Rebecca Caridad captured every romantic moment from this late summer Colorado wedding.

I wanted something simple, yet very romantic, lots of lace, and comfortable, since we were going to be outside all night. I loved my dress, it was a soft almond color underneath, with a gorgeous lace overlay. Olivia by Cicada, a designer out of Seattle. I kept my hair simple, braided but down, and some flowers in the back to tie the whole look together.

My wedding party wore a mix of crushed berry, sienna and wine colored dresses of different lengths. They picked their own, though I did go on some shopping adventures with a few of them. It worked so well in the end. The boys wore somewhat matching colors: deep reds, tans, and whites. They all looked so handsome.

It was easy doing it on my folk’s land. We wanted it to feel casual, and still look beautiful. Things like providing a mix of comfortable hay bales covered with Mexican falsa blankets and chairs for the ceremony. Having games for guests to play by the pond. We wanted to have fun, make it sort of a fancy backyard BBQ vibe.

Our wedding vibe was created by inspiration from favorite movies, photos, a combination of Colorado casual with old world romanticism. Of course Pinterest helped, but it can also distract and confuse on certain decisions.

Forget Trashing the Dress: This Day-After Shoot in Hanalei Bay is as Hot as It Gets

The day after their Kauai wedding, Jena and Patrick took to the surf in Hanalei Bay to pose for some steamy post-wedding portraits. Even though they were both exhausted, they both agree that the hour they spent in the water as part of their first day as husband and wife was so incredibly memorable and the very best way they could’ve started their new life together. After the wedding pressure was off, they switched into relaxation mode — drinking Mai Tais and enjoying each other’s company while their friend and photographer Jason Ball of Jason and Anna Photography worked his magic. Inspired by their shoot, Jena even started her own planning company, For Love & Aloha!

Colorful California Barn Wedding at The Dana-Powers House

Lindsey and Kyle said “I do” at the Dana-Powers House, which was built in 1882 and sits on the historic 37,888-acre Rancho Nipomo in San Luis Obispo County, California. The couple wanted their wedding to be a super fun and relaxed party with all of their family and close friends. They knew that the ceremony would be the most important and meaningful part of the day, even though they also wanted an epic dance party at the reception afterwards. Every moment of their colorful barn wedding was captured on camera by Morgan Ashley Photography, starting with a memorable first look on the cliffs near Shell Beach.

The wedding day itself absolutely flew by! It was amazing and so much fun, but definitely overwhelming trying to greet so many people while also processing many emotions. Remember to take a moment at some point (or multiple moments) to slow down and just observe all that is happening. Let the moment sink into your heart and take a few deep breaths as you enjoy your special day.

We decided to have our first look down on the cliffs near Shell Beach. I was so excited to see him, and I still remember the look on his face when I walked up behind him and he turned around to see me in my dress for the first time. It felt like a very peaceful, calm and special moment as we got to focus on each other and listen to the waves crash on the shore.

We put a lot of thought into how we wanted to personalize the ceremony. My husband’s grandfather officiated the wedding, which was very special to us. As a pastor, he shared some meaningful words on love and marriage from a Christian perspective. We also chose to write our own vows and read them aloud to each other.

The vision we had for our wedding was that it would be a super fun and relaxed party with all of our family and close friends. Being able to relax and enjoy the weekend was definitely a high priority for us. And of course, an epic dance party!
