Uniquely Artistic California Elopement at Noah Purifoy Outdoor Art Museum

June 4, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Every inch of this Joshua Tree elopement exudes desert hippie chic! Martha and Tony wanted their special day to reflect their bohemian style with out-of-the-ordinary artistic details, and the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Art Museum fit the bill! The couple values spontaneity and living in the moment, so they decided to pick out a lot of the details in the final days leading up to the wedding – the bride even chose her shawl on the day-of! Dada-inspired artwork made of reclaimed materials like old TVs and salvaged metals sets the stage for the couple’s passionate, eclectic elopement ceremony. We love how Martha and Tony chose to keep the ceremony simple and to celebrate with their friends and family at a Mexican restaurant afterward. Valerie Denise Photos captured every effortless, sweet moment along the way!

I wanted to feel like a hippie bride and I wanted to give the vibe that we were in a desert. What I loved about my wedding dress was that I purchased it one week before the elopement at Forever 21. The day of the elopement, I went to go buy a lace cardigan from Forever 21 that fit the dress perfectly! I asked everyone to wear whatever they wanted!

My most memorable moment was hearing one of my good friends playing guitar, walking down the aisle, and seeing my fiancé about to become my husband waiting for me.

I love a photo we took during the ceremony looking at my husband because I have never seen that look on me before. I love the way I looked at him. And the way he was looking at me as well.

Aside from having our ceremony at a place where there’s never been a wedding before, we personalized our elopement by placing root-beer bottles and eucalyptus at what looked like a window, and we had one of our friends play guitar during the ceremony.

Our wedding colors were very neutral so they wouldn’t clash with the colors of the museum.

Not only did I get the privilege of having my best friend be my matron of honor, but she was my photographer. We used to talk about who we would marry at 15 and 16, and she got to be the one to document one of the most important days of mine and my husband’s lives. It was magical.

My husband is a tattoo artist who loves art in all shapes and sizes; especially art that is strange and out of the ordinary. Our photographer had heard about “Noah’s Art Museum” and recommended us to go!

My husband and I are very different people who enjoy freedom. We wanted to have a very boho/retro feel because we’re both old souls at heart.

Ariel and Rio’s pre-wedding photos in Taiwan prove that yes, you can mix formal and casual outfit elements seamlessly! GOOD DAY Photography captured the couple’s strong, honest love among a misty bridge, a mountainside, and a garden covered in vines. We love that the couple mixed formal lace and tuxedo elements with leather jackets, rain gear, and rugged terrain to create a multi-dimensional environment that showcases Ariel and Rio’s passion for each other!

Intimate Pop-Up Elopement in Palm Springs, California

June 3, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Intimate-Pop-Up-Elopement-in-Palm-Springs-California-1

With only 15 guests in attendance, intimacy was at the forefront of this vibrant desert wedding! Noelle and Darryl were married in their favorite city during a pop-up elopement in Palm Springs. The wedding’s bright pops of color, desert style, and focus on florals was a perfect union of Noelle’s bohemian aesthetic and Darryl’s more classic tastes. Fun decor details like a handmade teardrop trailer, a record player adorned with tassels, and Polaroid cameras for the guests to use jazzed up the Palm Springs ceremony space. Noelle and Darryl’s bohemian elopement is sweet, timeless, and on-trend!

Our favorite memory of the day was our “first look.” It was one of the few moments that we spent alone time together where all the stress melted away and we just got to focus on each-other, really taking in what the day was all about. Us.

We created favor bags for all of our guests that were ready for them when they stepped into their hotel room. These favors included sunscreen, Advil, vintage postcards, sunglasses, mini sombreros, trail mix, and chapstick.

My advice for brides planning their own wedding: Get a day-of wedding planner! This is my one regret. I was so busy setting-up everything and making sure that the day was perfect, that I missed some precious moments that I can never take back! No amount of money is worth that!

My dad walked me down the aisle to the song, “New Slang,” by The Shins. He’s a guitar player and it was the first song he taught me on the guitar when I was younger.

We personalized our ceremony by writing our own vows for each other. They were each heartfelt, with a little laughter and tears here and there.

We came across Victoria Hogan, from FloraPopShop, who introduced us to Moorten Botanical Gardens. This collaboration made the perfect canvas for our day, including desert blooms, wildlife, and a handmade teardrop trailer.

My favorite photo taken by our photographer is one of us standing in the middle of the desert with blurred yellow wildflowers in the forefront.
