With the Fourth of July just around the corner, relaxed summer shindigs are on our mind. There’s really no celebrating summertime like a picnic wedding in the lawn of your favorite venue (or even in your own backyard!). Luckily for you, we’ve featured some fabulous picnic weddings here on Junebug. Today we’re rounding up five of our favorites to inspire your own summer soirée! Look no further for what to pack in your picnic basket and how to style the ground seating at your picnic-style ceremony or reception.

1. A Parisian-inspired picnic wedding in Victoria, British Columbia

Guests lounged on vintage quilts as Marissa and Lauren said “I do” beneath a tree outside St. Ann’s Academy. Each blanket shared a picnic basket filled with baguettes, jam, and assorted treats to enjoy. The pastel bunting is the icing on the cake in this DIY celebration!

2. An intimate Portuguese picnic elopement on the lawn

After exchanging vows inside the insanely beautiful Monserrate Palace, Diane and Jason popped a bottle of champagne on the lawn atop a couple of blankets. The newlyweds fed each other bites of chocolate cupcakes and shared their first dance right there next to the romantic picnic display. We love how the setup was accented with vintage luggage and a few pillows!

3. A mid-century inspired picnic wedding at the Madonna Inn

If a retro aesthetic is your cup of tea, Valerie and Erik’s mid-century inspired wedding at the Madonna Inn is perfect for you! With an abundance of vintage prints and vibrant colors, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated in the California sunshine with a delightful picnic reception.

4. A cozy and natural picnic elopement in Anchorage, Alaska

Do you and your love consider yourselves to be the rugged type? You might consider eloping in Anchorage, Alaska after seeing this gorgeous inspiration shoot! A wicker picnic basket, a cozy throw blanket, and a couple of slices of pie are all you need to celebrate deciding to spend forever together.

5. A whimsically colorful picnic wedding in Slovenia

“Take a blanket & pick a spot,” reads a small chalkboard sign at this whimsical Slovenia picnic wedding! Polka dots, bunting, and fresh ranunculus set the scene for a colorful soirée in the sand. A wooden palate makes the perfect picnic table when surrounded with pillows for comfortable floor seating!

One way we personalized the ceremony was that the church pews had thistle tied with the tartan of Dinah‘s family (MacArthur).

The entire day was memorable for different reasons. The vows were a very special moment as were some of the speeches at our wedding. Our nephews and nieces also created a video for us to watch which brought us to tears laughing.

We chose our venue because of its proximity to family and because the style matched our Gatsby theme.

All the table numbers were DIY, Dinah found a bunch of antique gold frames at a flea market. Toby’s mom helped us use a letter cutter to print out table numbers in an art deco looking print.

Ethereal Imperial Sand Dunes Engagement Photos

June 27, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

We always love when we see couples and photographers choosing adventurous landscapes for engagement shoots, and these sand dunes are truly the ultimate in desert beauty! Peri and Andrew knew they wanted an epic location for their e-sesh, so photographers Jonnie + Garrett brought the couple to their favorite sand dunes in California. Peri wore ethereal neutral-toned maxi dresses with tons of volume to complement the strikingly massive hills and smooth textures of the sand dunes. Peri and Andrew’s brave spirits and true love speak for themselves in this incredibly romantic Imperial Sand Dunes engagement session!
