Maïlys Fortune Photography and event stylist Ema Giangreco Weddings took us on a romantic journey through some of Italy’s most historic streets and waterways in this Venice elopement inspiration. It had all the traditional elegance and rustic glamour we love about Italian weddings with modern updates that kept it fresh and youthful. The bride’s chic Watters and Riki Dalal gowns and the groom’s relaxed Poil de Chameau ensemble transitioned effortlessly from the formal wedding portraits to candid moments strolling through streets. Floral designer Fioreria San Rocco Eventi kept the arrangements simple but impactful with bright pops of red and green in the bridal bouquet and crown and the reception table.
Dominika and Przemek’s wedding at Dolina Cedronu had that classically romantic Italian vibe we just can’t get enough of! The venue itself had an old-world aesthetic, which made it easy for the couple to incorporate sophisticated floral arrangements from Bello Matrimonio and minimal antique décor to create a space that was truly unique. The bride looked radiant in a two-piece Anna Kara ensemble, which was complemented beautifully by the bridesmaids’ teal dresses from the same designer. We love how Time of Joy Photography and videographer Michał Sikora captured not only the big moments, but the in-between moments that are sometimes overlooked. We got to see – in exquisite detail – the entire day unfold and felt as though we were there in person!
Our best advice is to enjoy the planning process as much as possible. Be true to yourself: if you are not good at planning, do not force yourself. We left a lot to chance, and it turned out very natural and was not chaotic. Let yourself be surprised. Trust the people you hired: they have more experience and will help to lead the event. But take the time to pick the right ones.
My dress was “Dagny” by Anna Kara, a Polish designer boutique. My aim was to look original, effortless, and a little bit sexy. It was also important that it was made from quality materials – it was silk lace and crepe. It was a two-piece set, which made it super light and comfortable to wear.
The venue itself suggested the relaxed, chic, Italian-inspired vibe. It was an old granary surrounded by mellow hills. Next to it was a tiny manor, which added some elegance, as well as stables with beautiful horses.
Our venue was a charming place (with a Tuscany feel) not that far away from the city. It’s not a popular venue, so we got to take all the guests to a place they have never been. We think it was nice to have that element of surprise!
We DIYed the invitations, P&D stamp (we ordered it at a specialist manufacturer), menus, lamp, decoration flags, and drink recipe boards.
Ashley and Tim both come from traditional southern families, but they always knew they wanted their wedding to be far from traditional. The couple chose the gorgeous Caribbean island of St. Lucia for their intimate destination wedding, and we love every marsala accent and naturally stunning moment of their day! Ashley wore an off-the-shoulder Stella York gown and wore her hair in an ethereal, structured style to reflect her elegant woodland Lord of the Rings style inspiration. We can’t get enough of this St. Lucia wedding’s epic post-ceremony photo shoot among the island’s sweeping shores, captured by photographer Amber Phinisee!
We come from traditional southern families, but we didn’t want a traditional wedding. We wanted our wedding to be an adventure to remember in one of the most beautiful places in the world. After all, it was the beginning of our story so why not start it in a far off land. St. Lucia’s gorgeous palm-fringed beaches, “Jurassic Park” style rain forests, and the majestic Piton mountains made for the perfect backdrop.
My style inspiration actually came from “Lord of the Rings”. I wanted to have an off the shoulder lace wedding dress and a structured down hairstyle with crystal and pearl accents. Stella York is my favorite designer and I could not have been more obsessed with my wedding dress by her. I wanted my bridesmaids to follow along with the off the shoulder look in marsala and they were stunning.
Our wedding vibe was very natural with earthy tones and pops of marsala and plum. I wanted the natural beauty of St. Lucia to take the stage and it definitely did with cool ocean waves, a brilliant sun, and gorgeous evergreen palms all around.
The most memorable part of the day was how he looked at me as I walked down the aisle. After nine years of being together, I had never seen that particular gaze. It was once in a lifetime and he made me feel like a unicorn. The most memorable part of the night, however, was learning how to breathe fire from the fire dancers at our reception.
There were little touches of us to personalize our ceremony even more. Our ring box was hand carved with “we do” on the top. I dried flowers for the boutonnieres and bouquets and put them together myself so they would be just the way I pictured them in my head. We wrote our own vows to really share our love for each other with our closest friends and family.
Our advice: What do you picture when you close your eyes and dream of your wedding day? When it comes to planning your day stay as true to that picture as possible. If it just so happens to be a mythical island wedding with elvish vibes, go for it!
The talent that Amber Phinisee and Tyler have is absolutely astonishing. They make you feel on top of the world and take their time to let you express your story through their photos. They aren’t scared to take risks and they made my day unforgettable.
