Just Try Not to Smile at This Colorful Southwestern Wedding Inspiration Shoot

Coral, orange, and teal may not be the first colors that come to mind when you think of a Southwestern wedding, but Honey Lemon Events and Blush and Bloom showed us how perfect those colors can be when accented with darker, moodier hues. The table design included a brown paper runner featuring the lyrics of John Legend’s “All of Me,” a stunning floral arrangement, and mismatched jewel-tone place settings that reflected the colors of the fabric ceremony backdrop. The bridal fashion was also on point with two wedding dresses from Ferre Sposa, a long layered veil, and a sequin jacket that added an unexpected (but totally welcome) touch of glam! We can’t get enough of these impeccable details, which Carrie J. Photography captured so perfectly!

Botanical Melbourne Wedding at Glasshaus Inside

When Lisa realized her dream of being surrounded by lush plants and fabulous floral installations would bust her and Michael’s wedding budget, her solution to find a venue with lots of greenery and plants led them to Glasshaus Inside. The venue, which is a florist shop during the day and an event space at night, featured floor-to-ceiling plants, exposed brick walls, and lots of natural sunlight, which gave the couple the natural and botanical vibes they wanted. We love that Lisa let her inner garden fairy elegance shine in a whimsical and bohemian-inspired Rue De Seine gown. Free the Bird captured every detail of this wedding beautifully, especially the sweet ceremony moments that included the couple’s dog!

Burnley Gardens and Glasshaus Inside, Melbourne, Australia

Michael wore an M.J Bale blazer and Aquila chinos, put together by stylist Maurizo at Myer. We couldn’t sing higher praises for Maurizio; he was so much fun to work with! The groomsmen wore various shades and patters of blue and teal, brown leather shoes, beige chino’s and navy leather belts (varying brands from Myer).

I wore the Zeppelin gown by Rue De Seine. I had so much fun wearing this gown! The way the dress moved and the large bell sleeves were my favorite parts.

We personalised our ceremony by having our beautiful dog (Nullah) with us; he comes with us everywhere and so it was strange imagine the day without him. Many family and friends were sceptical of this decision, as our beloved Nullah can be a little boisterous at times! While he may have had a few treats here and there, he sat a looked lovely with his emerald green bow tie and barked at all the right times, I think our guests were looking at him more than us!

Nullah aside, we wrote our own vows which also made our Ceremony extra memorable and will keep copies of these to read in years to come. We were also blessed with our celebrant, Meg Marshall, who is dog obsessed, as well! She was key in helping our ceremony run smoothly!

Working with Jai from Free The Bird Photography was an absolute joy. For me, I am not good with having a camera in my face and I was very worried about this. In all honesty, I rarely knew he was there which meant he was able to capture the candid moments just perfectly. Jai is very laid back which can help bring a relaxed mood when needed when those pre wedding nerves are high!

Growing up I have always loved plants and playing in the garden. I wanted to be surrounded by greenery, but I knew getting the floral installations I required was going to cost several thousand dollars – dollars I didn’t want to spend! I actually stumbled across Glasshaus Inside and it turned out to be everything I had dreamed it would be! Exposed brick walls, lovely bulb like lighting, exposed beams, concrete floors, and indoor plants scattered from floor to ceiling.

Stylish DIY Wedding in Massachusetts

This wedding in Massachusetts may be our new standard for casual wedding day style! Anna and John tied the knot at their private family lake house, which afforded them the comforts of home along with a spectacular setting. The bride’s halter-style BHLDN dress, gold flower hairpiece, and fishtail braid was summer bridal style at its finest and was matched by her bridesmaid’s blue and pink floral skirts and white satin camisoles from Banana Republic. Keeping with the laid-back summer vibes, the reception was BYOB and the couple provided a relaxed, cook-out style dinner and wine for their guests to enjoy under the stars. From the gorgeous first-look on the pier to the late night group swim in the lake, we can’t get enough of these gorgeous photos captured by Melissa Spilman!

Private Lake House, Harwich, Massachusetts

Because our venue was our summer lake house, we wanted the vibe to reflect that. Our place is right on a lake, and when our family spends time there we are outside until we have to go to bed. We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed, simple, and comfortable.

All the first look photos were by far my favorite, because they were taken out on our dock that goes pretty far out onto the lake, and provides a stunning backdrop for any photo. It’s one of my favorite places to relax during the summer, and now represents the things I love the most. We almost didn’t take first look photos, but I’m so so happy we did!

We personalized our ceremony by having our pastor officiate and give a short sermon on what God says about marriage in the Bible. We also had our good friends play our precession song, as well as my mother and her best friend play an instrumental song during communion.

We DIYed signs and centerpieces. We rented all of our chalkboards and jars, but decorated them ourselves using our own creative juices. I used Pinterest for inspiration. We also made our own sangria with one of our family’s favorite recipes.

We gave out koozies with our wedding date and hashtag, because we had a BYOB wedding, where we provided wine but everyone was encouraged to bring their favorite brew. We also gave out matches because I love candles and its a small enough gift that is useful and lasts.

We were so close to just ordering a bunch of pizzas and calling it a day (who doesn’t love pizza?). But we went ahead and contacted a local catering company and created a “cookout” style of menu for our guests. We had grilled chicken, steak, and veggies as entree options, with corn on the cob, bread rolls, and salad. We also had shrimp cocktail and watermelon for appetizers.

Our wedding was outdoors, in the middle of August on the Cape, so it was pretty humid out. After 2 hours of dancing, one of the groomsmen took the initiative to jump in the lake, and we all followed! The mason jar lights that had been lighting up the dock were all floating in the lake to give just enough light to see it all! And to top it off, Coldplay’s “Sky Full Of Stars,” as might be expected, was playing in the background. John and I floated away on our blowup swan for a minute or two and then all of our friends swam to us and flipped us over! It was truly an incomparable and euphoric moment.
