Erin and Mark’s enchanted forest wedding was like something out of a fairy tale thanks to the natural beauty of Evergreen Lake House. The Colorado venue provided a waterfront ceremony spot, an epic backdrop of mountains, and plenty of rustic charm. Photographers Mallory + Justin beautifully captured the couple’s sweet moments and all of the DIY details that went into making Erin and Mark’s big day completely their own.

Erin and Mark
The Wedding:
Evergreen Lake House, Evergreen, Colorado
Evergreen Lake House was the quintessential Colorado lodge, on a beautiful lake. Also, this was the first city I visited while seeing Colorado for the first time and I remember the lake house just knocking the wind out of me. Our theme was “Enchanted Forest,” and, as you can see from our photos, the venue kind of decorated itself.
I just wanted to be comfortable because I knew it was going to be a really long day, but of course I also wanted to feel beautiful. My dress was this flowy, feminine gown, with lace and beaded details, I just loved it.
The best moment for me was hearing the first notes of our ceremony music as I rounded the corner to see Mark at the end of the aisle.
The groomsmen all looked like Prince Charming; we kept it really simple for them, a tweed vest that they could own, and a pair of dark khaki Levi’s so they would be comfortable and could wear the look again to another wedding without looking like a previous groomsmen. The bridesmaids were just given a color and free reign on whatever they wanted; gold, bronze, silver, any sort of shimmery metallic would work with the theme. I gave the girls a gold and amber acorn necklace, and they all wanted to wear it for the ceremony!
We DIYed everything! My father-in-law sliced some wood from his backyard for the centerpieces, I glued individual candlesticks to them, and covered the rest with moss. My mother-in-law did a lot of the decorations, including everything on the mantel, the groomsmens’ boutonnieres, mother corsages, bouquet holders with little twinkle lights inside, and so much more!
