This Elegant Foxhall Resort Wedding Celebrates the Couple’s Love of Travel

January 4, 2018 | colleen

Zeinab and Sam’s elegant Foxhall Resort wedding has travel-inspired details that are made for the wanderlust at heart. Guests entered to see “where in the world” they are sitting, with each table named after a different city from all over the world. These travel details mixed with eucalyptus and white blooms from Jan’s Flowers add an elegant and romantic vibe to the reception space. With globes, suitcases, and old cameras strewed about, The Aisle went above and beyond planning and including small details that stood out. Amber Phinisee Photography and byDesign Films beautifully captured Zeinab and Sam’s wedding day.

The best advice we can give to future couples would be to RELAX! It’s very easy to lose yourself in the stress of it all, but at the end of the day you have to remember it’s a joyous occasion. That being said, it’s best to start wedding planning early because stress originates from lack of planning. The more organized you are, the less stressed you will be.

Of all the great vendors we booked, our photographers, Amber and Tyler from Amber Phinisee Photography, were by far the greatest decision. Working with them was so effortless and natural. They quickly began to feel like old friends and went above and beyond to make everything special. For example, they literally hopped across a river from rock to rock to create the perfect photos for our engagement shoot (Amber even lost her shoe in the river for us!). On our wedding day, they captured our excitement and love. We found that many wedding photographers’ pictures look unnatural – that is definitely not the case with them. Our pictures captured the genuine essence of our relationship.

The walk down the aisle towards the alter was the most memorable part for us. The rows of guests melted away, and we could only see each other. Our hearts were pounding, but our souls were tranquil. We looked in disbelief at one another, overwhelmed with thankfulness that we were about to spend the rest of our lives together.

The most important part of wedding planning was choosing the small details that would accurately represent our relationship. Planning the venue, photographer, florist, and caterer were all essential components, but it’s truly the small details that made our wedding memorable. We really wanted our wedding to capture the story of our love through the unique elements incorporated.

We wanted to find a theme that was reflective of our unique journey together. For us, it was about traveling. We overcame 3 years of long distance through constantly traveling to each other, and together to new places. We strived to make sure our wedding highlighted this theme throughout. We rented vintage suitcases as decor, and we had our seating chart be a U.S. map of every state and/or city we had visited. At each table, we had a photo of us visiting the specific city or state that matched the table name. For the wedding guest book, we had an open suitcase with several ‘luggage tags’ that guests wrote their best traveling tip on. Additionally, we both are quite addicted to coffee, and so we made sure we included a self serve coffee station by using two Keurigs.

God has always been a central part of our relationship, and we wanted to incorporate that into our wedding. So many people of different backgrounds and religious beliefs came to support our marriage, so we strove for inclusiveness. We gave Qur’ans to our Muslim guests, Bibles to our Christian guests, and decorative crystal beads to our guests without any religious affiliation.
