Jessica and Mark’s elegant DIY wedding was full of beautiful, natural character, photographed by Storytellers & Co. The historic mill venue, adorable details, and the bride’s lace tea-length gown made their wedding original, rural, and chic. The fact that the bride, groom, and family members did nearly everything from invitations, cupcakes to floral arrangements on their own made their wedding day all the more special.
The Couple: Jessica and Mark
The Wedding: Prallsville Mills, Stockton, NJ
The Inspiration: We both agreed that we wanted our wedding to be simple, natural, and personal to us. We had to go a little out of our area of New Jersey to find the perfect venue, but when we finally did we knew it was the one – a historic grist mill on the Delaware River. Because the building already had so much character (beautiful wooden floors, stone walls, deep-set windows, and even some of the original mill machinery), there was little we felt we needed to do as far as decor. The same rules applied for the fashion. I wanted a simple yet elegant dress, and I found the perfect tea-length, lace cap-sleeved dress in a tiny and lovely bridal shop in the West Village. We wanted everyone to feel like themselves, and not like they were overly done up for a wedding, so we only set a few basic fashion rules to follow and everything turned out perfectly!
