The Couple: Scott & Mashayla
The Wedding: 5.11.12 – Casa Del Mar, Santa Monica, CA
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Heartfelt, Romantic and Glamorous.
What was your wedding color palette? Blush, Peach, Pewter, Sepia, Ivory and White.
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? For the design concept, we were very inspired by the old-world glamour of the 1920s and 1930s. We loved the concept of incorporating vintage textures and patterns to bring the feeling of that old-world charm, and once my Claire Pettibone masterpiece of a dress was selected, the rest of the design really unfolded organically from there. Scotts family is bursting with music – his parents are both musicians, and their family runs one of the largest event planning, decor, and entertainment companies in California. They specialize in weddings, so we were able to infuse music into every inch of our wedding. We infused a bit of humor into our music selections as well (we did our grand entrance to Pusher Man by Curtis Mayfield, and Scott performed Aint No Fun by Snoop Dogg with the band for my bouquet toss).
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Looking back, the best decision Scott and I made was to allow our bridal experts to be experts, and to guide us in the right direction. Trusting their creative vision alleviated unnecessary stress and gave Scott and I an opportunity to focus on other planning details. Our wedding day was absolutely breathtaking and incorporated every element of our personalities.
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? The main advice I would give a bride planning her wedding today would be to keep it real, simple and personal. Do not let yourself become overwhelmed with perfecting every detail of your wedding day that you lose sight of what is important. Most of all, relax and enjoy yourself! Whatever will be, will be.
